Warren says Bloomberg should drop out of race following brutal debate
Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren called on fellow candidate Mike Bloomberg to drop out of the race Wednesday night after the debate in Las Vegas in which she clobbered the former New York City mayor over his record with women. Just minutes into the debate, Warren went hard at Bloomberg.
“I’d like to talk about who we’re running against: A billionaire who calls women fat broads and horse-faced lesbians,” Warren said. “And no, I’m not talking about Donald Trump, I’m talking about Mayor Bloomberg.”
Warren later chided Bloomberg for the multiple nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) signed by former female employees. Bloomberg said that there have been no accusations of harassment leveled at him, and if there ever was a complaint against him it may have just been for a joke he told. But that wasn’t good enough for Warren, who asked Bloomberg if he would be willing to release all of the women from the NDAs, which he would not commit to doing. So after the debate, speaking to CNN, Warren called for Bloomberg to drop out of the race.
“I hope that Michael Bloomberg decides to live by what he says. He just wants to see the Democrats beat Donald Trump, so that’s great,” Warren said. “Mike Bloomberg, drop out of the race. Keep putting your money in to help Democrats beat Donald Trump, and just take your ego out of this.”
And Warren continued to hammer Bloomberg on the NDAs.
“He has been sued, evidently, multiple times for discrimination against women and for harassing women,” Warren said. “The details? We don’t know because each time it happens he puts a chunk of money on the table and then forces the woman to agree to wear a muzzle for the rest of her life.”
Bloomberg only qualified for the debate on Tuesday so he had limited time to prepare, but Warren was still shocked he wasn’t ready to take questions about the nondisclosure agreements.
“He walked into this debate thinking nobody was gonna ask him about that?” Warren asked. “Listen, this is serious. We’re about to pick a nominee for president, and someone who can’t answer that question about the nondisclosure agreements does not deserve to be our nominee.”
Warren also just doesn’t think women will go for another president with multiple nondisclosure agreements. President Trump had two women, porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal, sue to try to get out of their NDAs with him.
“This is a man who not once, not twice, but repeatedly, repeatedly engaged in harassment, engaged in discrimination, and I just gotta tell ya, I just don’t think women are gonna put up with that anymore,” Warren said. “We’ve done it for decades, and those days are over. And we are not gonna nominate a candidate for president who does it.”
