Throughout the week of “Agatha All Along’s” release, ABC4 will be releasing a series of articles focused on the show.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The witch is back — Agatha Harkness from “WandaVision” now has her own spin-off show premiering Wednesday where she embarks on a journey to recover her lost powers, joined by a new coven of witches.

Kathryn Hahn, who portrays Agatha, sat with ABC4’s film critic Patrick Beatty to give an inside look at the new series.

‘Agatha All Along’: Writer Jac Schaeffer discusses Agatha’s role in the Marvel Universe

Although Agatha is known for being a powerful witch, in the nine-episode sequel series, she finds herself stripped of her powers. However, Hahn explained the character has other strengths beyond her bewitching abilities.

“Her drive, her ambition, and also her full throttled belief in herself, they could all be construed as superpowers to her…and also her ability to — I wouldn’t recommend this for anybody — her ability to bury and act in denial. Not the healthiest, but she is able to protect herself that way.”

Hahn also spoke to how Agatha changed and adapted throughout the years, and how the MCU’s rendition of her nods to all of those versions. Hahn detailed how modern comic versions of the character depict her with a tight bodysuit, flowy hair, and a gray streak, where earlier renditions showed Agatha more buttoned up, with her gray hair in a bun.

“She’s kind of gone back and forth agewise and attractability wise…whatever had been in fashion for the decade. What I think is so brilliant about Jac Schaeffer, the writing, is that she kind of took it all the different versions of Harkness and made them all into one person. She’s all in there, all different ideations,” she said.

To perfect the magical movement you see on screen which has become iconic for the character, Hahn shared that she received coaching from the same person that Elizabeth Olsen did to for Scarlet Witch. She worked with each of them to make the movements of each character unique.

“Elizabeth introduced me to her movement coach, this incredible woman, Jennifer White. She had been her architect of a lot of Scarlet Witch’s movements. She connected me for ‘WandaVision’ because we wanted to have very distinct use of our fingers. I met with her on this…and that really was an in to her magic, was through that work. It was really important that it be very specific and not vague,” she said.
