Watch Idris Elba propose to girlfriend at London Yardie screening

Idris Elba turned a movie screening into an unforgettable night. Surrounded by his cast and crew members for the film Yardie, the Dark Tower and Luther star popped the question to girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre.

The pair have been dating since Elba filmed 2017’s The Mountain Between Us.

David Marsden of Sainou Talent Agency was in attendance for the joyous occasion and shared footage of the proposal to social media. “When you turn up to the #Yardie screening with @sainoutalent clients @adnanmust & @akin.gazi and the director @idriselba steals the show with a #marriageproposal,” he wrote.

The Twitter account for Rio Cinema, the London theater housing the preview screening, confirmed the news, while one of Elba’s actors in Yardie, Adnan Mustafa, congratulated him and Dhowre on “the best part of the night.”

“Falling in love while making a movie about falling in love is pretty special,” Elba told PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly Editorial Director Jess Cagle of Dhowre, back when he was promoting The Mountain Between Us.

Dhowre, a model and Miss Vancouver pageant winner, made her first public appearance with Elba as his girlfriend during the Molly’s Game premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017. “I think it’s an interesting space, especially for her,” Elba said. “She’d never done a red carpet before and I tend not to do that. It was nice actually.”
