Riverdale in officially in KJ Apa's rearview, covered in motorcycle dust. The actor stars in the new Amazon MGM Studios action drama One Fast Move, written and directed by Kelly Blatz — and in a thrilling new clip shared exclusively with Teen Vogue, you can watch him put in the work to become a professional motorcycle racer. (Shirtless pull-ups, anyone?)
In One Fast Move, KJ Apa plays Wes Neal, a young man who has just been released from prison who attempts to start his life over by reconnecting with his estranged father Dean, a former motorcycle racing champion played by Euphoria's Eric Dane.
While father and son reconnect over the pursuit of Wes's dream to become a professional racer, Wes also leans on the support of Camila, a local waitress who catches his eye (played by Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin star Maia Reficco), and Abel, his dad's former mentor (Edward James Olmos).
In an exclusive new clip from the forthcoming movie, which premieres on Prime Video on August 8, we see Apa-as-Wes training for future races — but not entirely on the bike. We watch as Wes goes through biker bootcamp, completing pull-up after pull-up, lunges with a tire over his head, and push-ups as Dane lectures him. “Racing is physical," Dean says, cigarette in his mouth. “Pushing you to the limits one hundred percent.”
"As a devoted motorcycle enthusiast, I couldn't help but notice the absence of a film centered around the thrilling sport of motorcycle racing," the movie's director Kelly Blatz recently told Entertainment Weekly. "With One Fast Move, my team and I dedicated ourselves to creating an authentic film that captures the excitement and danger of motorcycle racing, while also delivering a compelling, character-driven drama."
Check out the clip below, then catch KJ Apa in One Fast Move when it speeds into Prime Video later this week.
ONE FAST MOVE will premiere globally on Prime Video on August 8, 2024.
