Watch Pink Sweat$ Perform an Unreleased Song, 'Too Heavy'

From Esquire

In past episodes of our “Unreleased” video series, artists have dug through their hard drives for some exclusive tracks that haven't quite made it onto an official album or mixtape yet.

But in the newest episode, R&B artist Pink Sweat$ (whose real name is David Bowden) grabbed a microphone and gave the series its first performance of a song. In the video, the Philadelphia artist—whose slow jam, “Honesty,” topped a few charts in 2018—debuts another soulful anthem,“Too Heavy.”

“So I was gonna initially release this song on my first EP, Volume 1, but it just didn’t make it, it didn’t feel right at the time,” Bowden said. ‘And then I was gonna put it on Volume 2, but it just didn’t fit sonically, the way I wanted it to sound at the time. But I always loved the lyrics, so that’s why I like this song.”

Hopefully, “Too Heavy,” which sounds right in tune with the singer’s other ballads, makes an appearance on the next Pink Sweat$ album. But if it does, he’ll have to finish it first.

“If you’re wondering, ‘Why does this have no chorus?’ That’s one of the reasons—I never could finish the song,” he said. “But I love it.”
