Saturday Night Live, NBC’s perennial late-night sketch comedy series, usually airs on Saturdays (hence its name), but the highly anticipated SNL50: The Anniversary Special is asking viewers to stick around an extra day. When is the SNL50 anniversary special?
The three-hour show will air live on Sunday, Feb. 16 beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. That airdate is approximately 49 and a half years since the Saturday Night Live pilot originally debuted on Oct. 11, 1975.
How to watch and stream the SNL50 anniversary special
The program will air live on NBC via linear television. For those without cable, it will also stream live on Peacock’s main page. Heads up: one year of Peacock Premium is currently going for a discounted rate of $29.99 for new customers only, otherwise the subscription rate is $7.99 per month.

Is there a live red carpet preshow?
Yes! News anchor Willie Geist and SNL alum Leslie Jones along with comedian correspondent Matt Rogers will host SNL50: The Red Carpet beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT across NBC, E!, and Peacock. The live preshow will air for an hour and will lead in to the anniversary special.

Where is the SNL50 anniversary special being filmed?
Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center will serve as the location for the unique event. This is the iconic New York City stage where Saturday Night Live has filmed every episode (aside from the COVID-19 “at home” shows) since 1975. Prior to SNL taking over, Studio 8H served as a radio studio and as the network’s election coverage newsroom.
What about SNL50: The Homecoming Concert?
The other major anniversary special for Saturday Night Live focused exclusively on music. SNL50: The Homecoming Concert streamed on Peacock on Friday, Feb. 14. Hosted by Jimmy Fallon, the concert extravaganza showcased iconic performances from Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, David Byrne, Devo, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Mumford & Sons, Post Malone, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Robyn, the B-52s, and the Roots.
Who is producing the events?
The creator and executive producer of SNL50: The Anniversary Special and SNL50: The Homecoming Concert is Lorne Michaels, with Mark Ronson also serving as an executive producer for the concert. Saturday Night Live is produced in association with Broadway Video.
