How To Watch The Times Square Ball Drop On New Year’s Eve
The Times Square ball drop is one of the most enduring rituals of New Year’s Eve. Since 1907, the year the lighted ball first descended, it’s been the harbinger of a new year for millions of people.
This year, journalists will be honored as the special guests by the Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, the organizers of Times Square New Year’s Eve. A select group of journalists will appear on stage with the Committee to Protect Journalists just before midnight to push the crystal button that signals the lowering of the Waterford Crystal Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball. The moment officially begins the 60-second countdown to the New Year.
ABC will host the annual Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy; CNN counters with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper; Fox will offer Steve Harvey and Maria Menounos; NBC presents Carson Daly, Leslie Jones and Chrissy Teigen; and NY1 and Univision will also be broadcasting and offering online coverage.
Fox News Channel (FNC) will present special live New Year’s Eve programming co-hosted by Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery and Fox & Friends co-host Pete Hegseth.
The official website for Times Square is already streaming live from Times Square and will take us through the New Year ball drop. There’s also New Year’s 2019 in Times Square via Earth Cam, which offers a similar no-frills look at the revelry.
Also online: CBS News will be streaming celebrations from around the globe.
