What to watch this weekend Feb. 7, 2025: TV awards contenders
After weeks of internet theorizing, Severance fans are finally getting (some) answers.
In this week’s episode, “Woe’s Hollow” (now streaming on Apple TV+), the Lumon Macrodata Refinement team embarks on a snowy overnight retreat, one that deepens the show’s overall mythology and has major implications for everyone involved, including Mark (Adam Scott) and Helly (Britt Lower), whose personal connection takes a turn. Where the team, which also includes Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Irving (John Turturro), goes in the wake of the episode’s shocking revelations is ultimately anyone’s guess, but the Emmy-winning puzzle box show’s remarkable ability to connect with and surprise viewers on a consistent basis makes Severance the awards contender to watch this weekend.

However, if you’re one of the few who hasn’t been spending all their waking hours trying to decode clues about what’s going on at Lumon, other contenders include:
The Z-Suite: The generational wars have reached scripted TV. Lauren Graham, who was overlooked by the Emmys during her stints on both Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, leads this new comedy series streaming on Tubi. Graham brings her trademark charm and comic chops to the role of Monica, an award-winning advertising executive who, along with her colleague Doug (Nico Santos), is usurped by her Gen Z colleagues after making a serious blunder. Now, they’re both set on taking back their power and prestige. The first two episodes are now streaming on Tubi.
The Voice: The Emmy-winning singing competition series is back for its 27th season (not a typo!) this week. Returning coaches include EGOT winner John Legend, who took last season off; five-time Grammy winner Michael Bublé, who is in his second season; famed shirtless Super Bowl performer Adam Levine, who last appeared on the show as a coach in Season 16; and country music star Kelsea Ballerini, who is in her first season. The season premiere is now streaming on Peacock.
Apple Cider Vinegar: Emmy nominee Kaitlyn Dever is one of our finest actors working today. She has consistently held her own against some of Hollywood’s best, but she’s officially got the floor to herself in this new Netflix limited series about an Instagram influencer who pretends to have cancer in order to market a wellness app. Based on the nonfiction book The Woman Who Fooled the World by Beau Donelly and Nick Toscano, the show follows Dever’s Belle Gibson as she attempts to compete with a popular blogger (Alycia Debnam-Carey). All six episodes are now streaming on Netflix.
