What to watch this weekend March 7, 2025: TV awards contenders
Everything old is new again in Hollywood, including Daredevil.
Both a new series and a continuation of the dark and gritty Marvel drama that streamed on Netflix from 2015 to 2018, Disney+'s Daredevil: Born Again is set five years down the road and retains much of what made the original series so intensely captivating (even if it features fewer of the true violent knock-down, drag-out brawls that defined the Netflix run). In the nine-episode first season — the first two episodes of which are now streaming — Charlie Cox returns as blind lawyer-turned-vigilante Matt Murdock, arguably the MCU’s best utility player these days, having popped up in everything from Spider-Man: No Way Home to She Hulk: Attorney at Law to Echo. Also returning are Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll as Matt’s friends Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, respectively, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, who's been causing problems all over the Disney+ version of the MCU. Already renewed for a second season, the show wastes no time setting into motion life-changing, series-defining events, making Daredevil: Born Again the awards contender to watch this weekend.

However, if superheroes and their antics aren’t your thing, other contenders include:
Dark Winds: AMC’s critically acclaimed drama is expanding to eight episodes for Season 3 as Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Chee (Kiowa Gordon) investigate the mysterious (and possibly supernatural) disappearance of a young teen, while Bernadette (Jessica Matten) adjusts to her new job with U.S. Border Patrol. Meanwhile, new faces join the show this season, including Emmy nominee Jenna Elfman as a special agent with the FBI who is investigating the B.J. Vines case. Thrilling from the jump, the Season 3 premiere airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC and AMC+.
The Amazing Race: It’s important to keep things fresh as you get older. Season 37 marks the largest cast ever to hit the road in the CBS reality competition series. To kick things off, 14 teams head to Hong Kong, where they encounter the first twist in a season full of them: the Fork in the Road, where they must choose which direction and route they want to take, creating two parallel races. Seems like a metaphor for something. The season premiere is now streaming on Paramount+.
The Righteous Gemstones: Danny McBride's one-of-a-kind comedy about a wealthy televangelist family returns for its fourth and final season this weekend. The nine-episode swan song sees the Gemstone siblings (McBride, Edi Patterson, and Adam Devine) attempting to carry on after their father’s retirement. With incredible guest stars like Megan Mullally and Seann William Scott along for the ride as the Gemstones’ late mother’s best friend and son, respectively, and Walton Goggins doing what Walton Goggins does, the riotously funny series goes out on a high note. The Season 4 premiere airs Sunday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and Max.
