Wendy Williams's husband Kevin Hunter axed from her daytime show amid divorce
Wendy Williams has given “Big Kev” the boot from her daytime show.
One week after filing for divorce, Williams fired her soon-to-be ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, from the show. "Kevin Hunter is no longer an Executive Producer on the Wendy Williams Show,” a show spokesperson told Yahoo Entertainment, adding that the Debmar-Mercury media company “wishes him well in his future endeavors.”
While Williams’s personal publicist initially made it seem they were on friendly terms and “working through” the divorce “process together,” TMZ reported that Williams was “suffering from distress” due to Hunter’s presence on set and made the decision that he had to go.
Last week, Hunter was reportedly served with divorce papers on the set of the show in which Williams’s personal life has taken over her popular “Hot Topics” segment. The papers were wrapped as a present with a bow, gossip site Love B Scott reported. Hunter went off “cursing and screaming” after opening the box an eyewitness claimed. The tabloid Radar Online said that in the papers, Williams listed their date of separation as six months ago.
Hunter, who Williams said cheated on her when their 19-year-old son Kevin Jr. was an infant, allegedly fathered a child with a mistress earlier this year. Last week, Williams confirmed their divorce on the show and said she looked forward to starting a “new life” without him.
Hunter broke his silence on Tuesday in a carefully-worded statement that was short on specifics. He didn’t say whether or not he cheated — nor did he acknowledge having a baby outside of his marriage.
“I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans,” Hunter said. “I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs.”
He went on to call Williams an “amazing woman” and praised her for changing “the face of entertainment and the world.” He said, “I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally.”
He added, “No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine.”
Williams, who has been candid about her dependency issues, also said on her show that she’s preparing to leave the sober house she has been residing in for the last few months.
