When will The White Lotus Season 3 be released?
We’ll still have to wait a while longer for our check-in time: HBO boss Casey Bloys confirmed when the writers’ and actors’ strikes ended that Season 3 won’t air until 2025. At least that gives us plenty of time to pack.
Who is in the White Lotus Season 3 cast?
We’ve come to expect a top-notch cast of familiar faces each season on The White Lotus, and Season 3 looks to be no exception: Parker Posey (Lost in Space) was among the first wave of cast members announced in January, with Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age) and Walton Goggins (Justified) being announced shortly thereafter.
Joining them will be Jason Isaacs (Star Trek: Discovery), Michelle Monaghan (The Path) and Leslie Bibb (Popular), along with relative newcomers Dom Hetrakul and Tayme Thapthimthong. Later in January, four more cast members came onboard: Christian Friedel (Babylon Berlin), Morgana O’Reilly (Neighbours), Shalini Peiris (The Ark) and Lek Patravadi. Along with Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger (Gen V), Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education), Sarah Catherine Hook (First Kill), Sam Nivola (White Noise), Nicholas Duvernay (Bel-Air), Scott Glenn (The Leftovers) and Arnas Fedaravi?ius (The Wheel of Time) have joined the cast as well.
A K-pop superstar is checking in, too: Lisa, from girl group Blackpink, will make her acting debut in Season 3.
Plus, we know that at least one White Lotus veteran will be back…
Are any cast members from previous seasons returning?
Yes! We’re happy to report that Natasha Rothwell will be reprising her role as spa manager Belinda in the upcoming third season. (If you remember, Belinda developed a close relationship with Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya in Season 1, only to have her dreams dashed when Tanya withdrew her offer to fund a new wellness center for her.) Rothwell earned an Emmy nomination for her work in Season 1.
She won’t be joined, however, by fellow Season 1 alum Connie Britton, who was rumored to be returning as high-powered businesswoman Nicole. TVLine confirmed exclusively in May that she won’t be a part of the Season 3 cast, with her spokesperson telling us: “She would love to do another season of The White Lotus at some point, but she is not participating in the upcoming season.” (Also not returning: Coolidge, who starred in the first two seasons but whose character Tanya is, well, dead.)
But wait, wasn’t someone from Season 3 already recast?
Yes, they were: Milo? Bikovi? was originally announced as a part of the Season 3 cast, but he was dropped from the series following protests from Ukrainian officials about his perceived ties to the Russian government and support for the invasion of Ukraine. “We have decided to part ways with Milo? Bikovi?, and the role will be recast,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement. Days later, Shadow and Bone’s Julian Kostov was cast in the role vacated by Bikovi?.
Then in March, Charlotte Le Bon (The Hundred-Foot Journey) was added to the cast, replacing the previously announced Francesca Corney. The change reportedly came because producers were looking for someone who played older.
Where is The White Lotus Season 3 being filmed?
After seasons set in Hawaii and Italy, The White Lotus is heading to Asia for its third season. HBO confirmed that Season 3 will be set in Thailand, with filming set to begin in February in and around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok.
“We are pleased to partner with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to execute Mike [White]’s creative vision and showcase all that the beautiful country of Thailand has to offer, as the next group of guests check in to the White Lotus,” HBO’s executive vice-president of production Janet Graham said in a statement.
What will the plot of The White Lotus Season 3 focus on?
Plot details are still scarce for Season 3, but series creator Mike White did drop a few hints in a featurette that debuted along with the Season 2 finale. He pointed out that the first two seasons were about money and sex, so Season 3 will be “a kind of satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
So does that mean we can expect another dead body to appear in the premiere, with the identity remaining a mystery until the finale? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Is there a trailer for The White Lotus Season 3?
Not yet, but we did get a sneak peek at Season 3 in a sizzle reel released by Max in November. In it, we see Walton Goggins, Parker Posey and Leslie Bibb arriving in Thailand, along with a shot of Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda being greeted by a character played by Blackpink’s Lisa (aka Lalisa Manobal). Plus, the video confirms that Season 3 will indeed debut in 2025.
Looking ahead, will we get a Season 4 of The White Lotus?
Yep, and Mike White already has an idea in mind for it. HBO boss Casey Bloys revealed to reporters in November that White “pitched us on his concept for Season 4” while they were in Thailand shooting Season 3. Bloys wouldn’t offer any details, and HBO hasn’t been officially renewed the series yet, but “if [White] wants to move forward,” Bloys said, “we will do the fourth season, of course.” So go ahead and book those reservations while you still can.
