Why you can thank Bon Jovi for keeping the Dr. Dre-led Super Bowl halftime show a surprise
Fans can thank Bon Jovi for this year's Super Bowl halftime show surprise.
The content of the big show by Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Eminem has been kept under wraps thanks partly to the music of Bon Jovi and the Red Hot Chili Peppers being cranked outside Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles while rehearsals have been underway inside, according to TMZ Sports.
On the downside, some neighbors are not too pleased to be hearing Bon Jovi and Red Hot Chili Peppers music blasted as the game draws closers and rehearsals go late into the night.
Maybe the neighbors would prefer to hear Bon Jovi on the Super Bowl halftime show stage instead? After all, frontman Jon Bon Jovi has numerous connections to the NFL He's pals with New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, and he tried to buy the Buffalo Bills in 2014.
The band Bon Jovi also were headliners of the 2002 “NFL Kickoff Live from Times Square” concert.

They're in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but no Super Bowl halftime show. Bon Jovi said that ship has passed during an April 2020 appearance on “The Howard Stern Show.”
“I turned it down many years ago,” Bon Jovi said. “I didn't like that you had to team up with other people, and you had these people coming on your stage, all the demands. And then the pressure's on it. It didn't appeal to me to play at the New Jersey one. It seemed too obvious.”
Bruno Mars and, ironically, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, played the halftime show when the Super Bowl took place in 2014 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
“The last time that — honest to God — we were at all interested was back when they had it in Dallas (in 2011) and we didn't get it,” Bon Jovi said. “I said, 'That's the end of it. I don't want it. I won't even talk about it again.' “
