Will Smith Does Impromptu ‘Summertime’ Performance on ‘Late Show,’ Again
During a commercial break on Tuesday’s Late Show With Stephen Colbert, there was the perfect mix of a band that knows the music for the ’90s hit “Summertime” and the guy who happened to write the song.
While on the show to promote his new movie, Suicide Squad, megastar Will Smith heard the band playing the music to his classic song from 1991 during a commercial break. So he ran over and grabbed a microphone and started in on the song, handling that catchy famous chorus all by himself and even getting the crowd involved.
Smith is no stranger to this type of thing, however; he pulled off similar impromptu performances back when David Letterman hosted the Late Show. Along with doing “Summertime” once before back in 2013, he also threw down some verses to hit 1997 hit “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” in 2015.
So what if he’s done it before? It’s a great song, and summer is still in session!
