'Willy Wonka' Kids Reunite 44 Years Later
On Today Wednesday, all five kids who found golden tickets in Willy Wonka the Chocolate Factory way back in 1971, reunited after 44 years. They reminisced about many things including what it was like to play Veruca Salt, the scene that took 76 takes because it involved in Oompa Loompa doing cartwheels, and of course working with a legend like Gene Wilder.
The cast also discussed some secrets from behind the scenes, including the revelation that the chocolate waterfall and stream, was really just “disgusting” brown water.
We also learned that, with the exception of Oompa Loompa actor Rusty Goffe, the rest of the young cast didn’t stay in the business. This includes the actor who played Charlie, Peter Ostrum, who is now veterinarian.
