Woody Allen’s ‘A Rainy Day in New York’ Might Not Even Be Released — Report
A number of actors who’ve worked with Woody Allen have expressed regret over their collaborations with the increasingly controversial filmmaker in recent weeks, with some going so far as to donate their salaries. That list includes Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez, who star in Allen’s upcoming “A Rainy Day in New York” — a film that, according to Page Six, might not even be released anymore.

“‘Rainy Day’ will either not come out or [will] get dumped by Amazon without any p.r. or theatrical release,” one film-industry executive, who chose to remain anonymous, said. Allen has been accused of molesting his daughter Dylan Farrow, who has written several op-eds about the alleged incident and publicly pressured actors to denounce him. Rebecca Hall, Elle Fanning, Jude Law, Liev Schreiber, Diego Luna, Suki Waterhouse, and Griffin Newman all co-star in “A Rainy Day in New York”; Gomez, Hall and Newman have likewise donated their salaries.
“But where were these champions before [last] October?” a studio head, who likewise chose not to reveal his or her name, asked. “It’s pathetic that it took the #MeToo movement for these actors to grow a pair of balls. It’s embarrassing that Allen’s been revered by Hollywood for years and constantly nominated for awards. Same with Roman Polanski [the director who pled guilty to unlawful intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in 1977, then fled the US for France to avoid extradition].” Read the original story here.
