'A Wrinkle in Time' cast surprises moviegoers with a live reenactment
On The Late Late Show with James Corden, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and newcomer Storm Reid surprised a movie theater audience by re-creating A Wrinkle in Time live.
Corden provided the narration for the shortened version of the feature film, while Winfrey, Witherspoon, Kaling, and Reid each attempted to keep up with his directions, even the eccentric ones. “You know what I had to do on Colbert?” Winfrey asked. “Nothing. Just sit there, talk about the movie.” Unfortunately, Corden was basically the only person who thought the idea of reenacting the film was brilliant. He also thought he was the best person on the crew to give Witherspoon a pep talk when she joked that she was feeling nervous. Spoiler alert: That ended with Witherspoon punching him!
In the end, the audience seemed to love their 4D experience, and Corden was overjoyed. He even went as far as to say, “You know, the movie was good. But this? This was better. I think if Ava DuVernay was here today, she would say, ‘Wow. I’m glad I made the film so this could happen.'” Sadly, the cast did not share the sentiment. Winfrey concluded: “You know I opened a school in Africa to give education to thousands of young girls who otherwise wouldn’t have access to school? But this? This has been my proudest moment.” When Corden popped in asking, “Really?” Winfrey quickly answered, “No.”
The Late Late Show with James Corden airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. on CBS.
