Zach Braff Reveals He and BFF Donald Faison Are 'Like a Married Couple': 'I Can't Quit Him' (Exclusive)

The former 'Scrubs' costars are "like family" Braff told PEOPLE while promoting his new series, "Bad Monkey"

Zach Braff and Donald Faison's friendship is clearly more than a showmance.

Speaking to PEOPLE in 10 about his new Apple TV+ series, Bad Monkey, Braff opened up about the "married couple" vibes he shares with Faison, his former Scrubs costar and longtime collaborator.

"We get annoyed with each other and we just let it slide off our backs," the 49-year-old said. "Sometimes I want to kill him but then I realize I can't quit him and we love each other."

Braff is godfather to Faison's two children with wife CaCee Cobb, daughter Wilder Frances, 9, and son Rocco, 11. "We're just very close," he added.

When asked what the secret to their long-lasting partnership is, Braff replied that it's "the same thing to any relationship: communicating and not letting trivial things get in the way."

One not-so-trivial item on the pair's to-do list: the possibility of reuniting for a Scrubs revival, which series creator Bill Lawrence said was happening in 2022. The beloved medical-themed comedy series ran from 2001 to 2010.

"It'll be interesting if and when it happens to see what the character's like," Faison told PEOPLE in 10 of his character, Dr. John "J.D." Dorian. "He's a grown-ass man, he's not a child anymore. I've always said to Bill that it'd be interesting to se him having lost some of that joie de vivre, and wanting to find it back in his life in some way."

His idea is perhaps to have him "reunite with his friends in whatever the story is, [and that's] the way he sort of brings some of his youth back into who he is now. To me that would be an interesting story to tell."

For now though, he remains focused on Bad Monkey, which costars Vince Vaughn.

"I'm such a massive fan of Vince's," Braff said, adding that doing scenes with him was a "bucket list item."

"He's just a really big personality. He is that guy," the actor continued. "He never says the same thing twice — he sort of takes the script and runs with it. And then Vince Vaughn-ifies it."

Bad Monkey is streaming now on Apple TV+; Scrubs can be streamed on Hulu.
