Zaya Wade Posts Sweet Tribute to Dad Dwyane Wade & You Can See How Much Love Is There Just From One Look
Dwyane Wade and Zaya Wade, 17 just might have the most special father-daughter relationship in Hollywood. The NBA legend has stood beside and stood up for his transgender daughter all along, and it’s such a beautiful thing to see.
And so were the pictures that Zaya posted of her and her dad as a tribute to him on Father’s Day. “the best there is. Happy Father’s Day @dwyanewade ??,” she captioned a carousel of two black and white photos. Both are photos taken of a director’s monitor that shows Wade and Zaya being filmed.

In the first shot, the father and daughter are looking at each other with such loving and caring expressions. It’s so clear they have so much love and admiration for each other. In the second, Zaya is looking forward with a big smile on her face and Wade is looking down, laughing. It’s a collection of intimate and touching photos that makes it obvious howe in awe they are of each other.
“Indeed,” Zaya’s 22-year-old brother Zaire commented. Wade shares Zaya and Zaire with ex-wife Siovaughn Funches.
Wade also shares son, Xavier, 10, with ex Aja Metoyer and daughter Kaavia James, 5 with wife Gabrielle Union. He is also the legal guardian of his 21-year-old nephew, Dahveon Morris.
While Wade has loving relationships with all of his kids, we’re always so impressed by the way he advocates for Zaya and the LGBTQ+ community. In 2023, he and Union were honored by the NAACP for their activism.
“I’ve sat back and watched how gracefully you have taken on the public scrutiny,” the proud dad said in his moving acceptance speech. “And even though it’s not easy, I watched you walk out of that house every morning as yourself. I admire how you’ve handled the ignorance in our world. I admire that you face every day.”
“You’ve made me a better human just simply by being who you were born to be,” he continued. “Our baby girl. Thank you for showing the world what courage looks like.”
Whether he’s supporting Zaya’s innate right to “simply be who she was born to be” or cheering her on (and maybe shedding a tear) while she walks the runway at Paris Fashion Week, it’s always clear that Wade is always proud of his daughter, so we have no doubt he was just as touched by her Father’s Day tribute as we were. It really did prove that a picture (or a carousel) is worth a thousand words.
These celeb parents are so proud of their LGBTQ kids.
