Zuleyka Rivera Responds to Haters Who Attacked Her ‘Despacito’ Performance at the Grammys
Zuleyka Rivera made a glamorous Grammys debut at the 60th annual awards ceremony on Sunday (Jan. 28), when she appeared alongside Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee during their big “Despacito” moment at Madison Square Garden. But rather than being applauded for her performance, the former Miss Universe and coveted Puerto Rican beauty queen — who wore a nude-colored one-piece and sashayed her perfectly chiseled body across the main stage — was met with an onslaught of criticism for her performance.
“She’s almost naked,” one tweet read. “That’s all she’s good for.” Another scathing reaction said Rivera was “no queen” just because she knows to move and “shake her ass.” Another went as far as calling her an “old bitch” whose presence should not be touted as Latino pride.

Rivera, who began her career as model with a lucrative Cover Girl deal in her early 20s, wasted no time in responding to naysayers, shutting down haters with poise and eloquence on social media.
“The day that all of those who gave negative criticism step on a Grammy stage, then their opinions will count. Until then, stay looking pretty sitting in front of the television screen,” she clapped back on Instagram.
In the same post, she said: “Joy and satisfaction, that’s how I describe my feelings in this instant. Last night was another memorable moment in my life where the eyes of the world were focused on Puerto Rico. An island that has suffered like never before this past year but keeps bringing talent and joy to the rest of the world through art.”
