10 Most Stylish Honoree Latia Curtis: 'I am going to be comfortable ... and have pockets'

Latia Curtis
Latia Curtis

Occupation: Makeup & Hair Artist for Print, Motion, and Media. Part-Time Creative Director for Commercial Campaigns

Dream Occupation: In many aspects, I already have my dream job & career.

I describe my style as… Function first but fashion also first. I dress based on how I feel that day but no matter the event I’m going to, I’m going to be comfortable, and my look WILL have pockets.

Where I like to shop… Vintage & Thrift stores, Re-sale shops, and Uniqlo for basics!

My fashion influences are… I find historical references the most influential; particularly those of working-class people and movements. For example, the denim that we love and wear today was initially created for miners! I love knowing that bit of history when I wear my own jeans to work. I’m also influenced by the style of Grace Jones, Diana Ross (especially her 1980 album cover “DIANA”), Karla Welch (who styles Diana’s daughter, Tracee Ellis Ross), and Jenna Lyons.

My signature item ... My Dark Olive Telfar x Eastpak Shopper!

The next thing I will buy is… I’ve *finally* found my dream pair of loafers from Bottega Veneta so now my list of investment pieces is complete! Anything else I buy will likely be spontaneous pieces that “speak” to me. Because yes, everything I buy has to “speak” to me.
