Sheldon Chalet
"I'm obsessed these days with seeing all earth's grand phenomena-I want to see the migrations in the Serengeti; I'd like be somewhere on the water with a pod of breaching whales; and I really, really want to see the Northern Lights, which are supposed to be mind blowing and soul altering. I'd try the Sheldon Chalet, a 5-room speck 6,000 feet up in Alaska's Denali National Park, which I included in T&C's list of best new hotels this year. It's supposed to be one of the most private and posh places places to see the Lights." -Klara Glowczewska, Executive Travel Editor
Rosewood Baha Mar
"A true winter vacation means escaping the cold weather for some sunshine. The insanely gorgeous Rosewood Baha Mar is at the top of my travel bucket list thanks to their incredible beaches, top-notch restaurants, and of course, Sense, the Rosewood Spa. My friends and I are eyeing their Girlfriend Getaway package at the moment-it includes a spa credit and blowouts." -Maggie Maloney, Associate Digital Editor
Rambagh Palace
"I've visited nearly 60 countries, but I've never been to India, and it remains top on my bucket list for the winter. My dream is to stay in a Taj Hotel-each one seems amazing in its own right, however if I had my choice, I'd book a suite at Rambagh Palace in Jaipur." -Lindsay Silberman, Contributing Editor
Dolomite Mountains Ski Safari
"One of the best ways to explore the Dolomites in winter is on a Dolomite Mountains Ski Safari. In addition to descending beautiful pistes at the Dolomiti Superski resorts, you’ll move from valley to valley each day on skis, enjoying different accommodations over several days. Each evening, you’ll experience the welcoming atmosphere of hotels and rifugios, which are alpine inns set high atop the mountains. Plus, you’ll enjoy the advantage of lift-service pistes to help you move from hut to hut, so you can focus on enjoying your downhill turns. Nowhere else in the world can you access such a variety of terrain, and no two days of skiing are ever the same! Dolomite Mountains Ski Safari will put the entire trip together for you. " -Brandon Perlman, Contributor
Adare Manor
"Ireland might not be the first destination that comes to mind for a holiday getaway, but I’d highly recommend a winter trip to the Emerald Isle. Spend a few days in Dublin, then road trip to the newly renovated Adare Manor, which looks like a stately home straight out of Downton Abbey. While golfers may prefer to visit the hotel’s championship course during the warmer months, colder weather is the perfect reason to indulge in hydrating La Mer spa treatments, festive afternoon teas, and days spent lounging by the lobby’s majestic fireplace." -Caroline Hallemann, Digital News Editor
The Douglas
"Wintertime vacations are usually arranged to escape the weather-but there are advantages to embracing it. Rates will be lower, the tourists will have cleared out, and the best parts of many locales will still be there to explore. Vancouver is beautiful year-round, and with mountains not far away, can be easily extended into a ski trip. Consider staying at a contemporary hotel like The Douglas to experience the modernity and style the city has to offer." -Chloe Foussianes, News Writer
The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman
"The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman will host its 11th annual Cayman Cookout from January 17 to 20, and I'm dying to go. Chef Eric Ripert, who runs Le Bernardin in New York City and Blue by Eric Ripert at the resort, always invites fellow top chefs to take part in the culinary extravaganza, and this year's lineup includes José Andrés and Emeril Lagasse. The festival takes place on the scenic Seven Mile Beach and features more than 50 individual events, including a barefoot barbecue and Mo?t & Chandon champagne-filled cook-off brunch."-Sam Dangremond, Contributor
Baros Maldives
"Now that it's officially freezing in New York, all I can think about is being somewhere warm and tropical. I have my eye on the Maldives, and I've always wanted to stay at Baros. It was one of the first luxury resorts to open back in the '70s, and to this day is still considered among the best." -Lindsay Silberman, Contributing Editor
Twin Farms Resort
"While it’s tempting to retreat to warmer weather in the winter, embracing the cold can be equally as magical. Traveling to Vermont is always beautiful, relaxing, and full of great activities. The Twin Farms Resort in Barnard, Vermont, encompasses everything you could want from a winter vacation. From skiing, ice skating and snowshoeing, to cozying up in the hot tub with a glass of wine, there are endless relaxing and fun activities to choose from." -Lucia Tonelli, Editorial Fellow, ELLEDECOR.com
The Le Royal Monceau Raffles
"I wouldn’t turn down a trip to Paris at any time of the year, but seeing City of Lights covered in snow is completely magical. Spend the day posted up at the Café de Flore or wander through the Musée d’Orsay-with significantly fewer crowds. Le Royal Monceau Raffles, in the 8th arrondissement, is not only a great place to stay but will be hosting an Arctic pop-up this winter, transforming their terrace into a winter wonderland complete with private igloos and M?et & Chandon champagne." -Charlotte Chilton, Editorial Fellow
Hotel Budir
"Iceland has been on my travel bucket list for a while and with winter being the best season for scoping out the Northern Lights, this season would be the perfect time to take in some natural wonder (and maybe a hot spring or two)." -Lauren Hubbard, Contributor
"First we had Bitcoin, a cryptocurrency. Now, we have Skyhour, a “flight currency.” The company of the same name, which is backed by JetBlue’s corporate venture arm, seeks to be the Venmo of travel, a website and app that allows friends to gift each other flight hours regardless of airline or destination. Sixty minutes on a plane pays off $60 on the platform, which users can use book their own travel, or for others, on over 350 airlines. A funny quirk of the platform-You can use it to crowdsource your travel bucket list, letting friends know the number of hours needed to reach a dream destination. Three words to my loved ones: Rock the Casbah."-Erik Maza, Style Features Director
