More than 130 restaurants opened in Louisville this year: See the full list
Louisville's restaurant scene continues to boom. The city saw more than 100 restaurants open in 2022 and as we head into the end of the year, we've well surpassed that number, seeing more than 130 openings this year alone.

Restaurants that opened in Louisville in 2023
1. 7 Brew Coffee — 12525 Shelbyville Road. A new location for this coffee chain is planned for Middletown in late October.
2. All Thai'd Up — 4812 Brownsboro Center. This locally owned restaurant that serves authentic Thai cuisine just opened a brick-and-mortar location. It still operates its food truck.
3. Atrium Brewing — 11205 River Beauty Loop. A second location of this brewery opened in Norton Commons in March.
4. Awry Brewing Co. — 1025 Barret Ave. This small batch brewery, with five barrels and 12 draft lines, moved into the former V-Grits location.
5. Azul Tequila Mexican Grill & Bar — 11470 Preston Highway. Plans filed indicate a new Mexican restaurant will open in Louisville.
6. B-Side at Decca — 1076. E. Washington St. This new bar and music venue opened in the upstairs space at Decade, in the former Butchertown Grocery spot.
7. Bakersfield — 1066 Bardstown Road. This Cincinnati-based restaurant opened a location on the first floor of the former HopCat building.
8. The Bakery at Sullivan University — 3100 Bardstown Road. The reopened The Bakery features both a new visual aesthetic and menu highlighting breads, pastries, light sweets, and an array of hot and iced beverages. It re-opened in early October.
9. Banditz Pizza — 712 Brent St. This pizza place from the team behind Bunz Burgers opened in The Village Market in Paristown in August.
10. Barista Parlor — 500 W. Jefferson St. A Nashville-based coffee shop opened in downtown Louisville.
11. Bandido Taqueria Mexicana — 4214 Shelbyville Road. This local chain took over a former Bubbakoo's Burritos location and opened in March.
12. Bellissimo — 2217 Steier Lane. An Italian food truck opened a restaurant space in March.
13. Bep Tea House — 1702 Bardstown Road. A bubble tea shop opened in the former Superchefs space in late April.
14. Better Blend — 4149 Shelbyville Road. The Florence, Ky.,-based smoothie chain opens Oct. 28.
15. Beyond the Sun — 1023 Bardstown Road. A new restaurant and lounge opened on Dec. 27 in the former Mellow Mushroom location in the Highlands.
16. Big Nita's Cheesecakes — 1011 E. Main St. A cheesecake-focused shop opened at the end of January in Butchertown in the former Hi-Five Doughnuts space.
17. Blak Koffee — 1219 W. Jefferson St. A new coffee shop opened in the Russell neighborhood in early April.
18. Blaze Pizza — 4848 Shelbyville Road. A Blaze Pizza location moved to the former Moby Dick building and opened on April 6.
19. Born2Bagel —231 Blankenbaker Pkwy. This bagel shop offers schmears, desserts and sandwiches and opened Sept. 28.
20. Breakfast AF — 1008 Goss Ave. This new breakfast restaurant in Schnitzelburg, which opened in September, aims to serve food that will “blow your mind.”
21. The Capital Grille — 7600 Shelbyville Road. An upscale steakhouse chain has filed plans to open its first Louisville location in February 2023.
22. Cherry Pickin’ — 828 E. Main St. This basketball-themed cold-press juice bar opened in September in NuLu Marketplace behind The Local Seltzery.
23. Chicken Salad Chick — 7706 Bardstown Road. A location of the popular chicken salad restaurant opened Oct. 3.
24. City BBQ — 4027 Poplar Level Road. This Columbus, Ohio-based chain opened its second Louisville location in February.
*25. Cottage Inn — 570 Eastern Parkway. A long-running Southern comfort food restaurant that closed in the summer of 2021 finally reopened in mid-January.
26. Condado Tacos — 7900 Shelbyville Road. A taco chain opened a location in the Oxmoor Center.
27. Con Huevos — 10639 Meeting St. This locally-owned restaurant opened in the former Ramsi's in Norton Commons in March.
28. Connors Steak & Seafood — 615 S. Hurstbourne Parkway. A new-to-market steakhouse opened in Louisville in early April.
29. Country Boy Brewing — 400 S. 2nd St. A mini second location of this brewery opened in Falls City Market inside the Omni Louisville Hotel.
30. Craft House Pizza — 2813 N. Hurstbourne Parkway. A fifth location of this locally-owned pizza chain opened in the East End on April 21.
31. Crumbl Cookies — 7714 Bardstown Road. This popular cookie chain is opening another location in Louisville.
32. Cured Restaurant and Salumeria — 633 E. Main St. This restaurant and salumeria makes its own fresh, cured and smoked meats.
33. Daisuki Sushi — 1604 Bardstown Road. The sushi shop from Logan Street Market opened a second location in the former Faces Bistro space in late March.
34. Deapster 502 —1001 Logan St. An Indian concept opened in Logan Street Market on April 1.
35. Decade — 1076 E. Washington St. This new concept from the team behind Decca opened in the former Butchertown Grocery space.
36. Delicious Foodies — 3912 Bardstown Road, Suite 102. Eden & Kissi has opened an offshoot restaurant next door.
37. Dickey's Barbecue Pit — 10318 Taylorsville Road. This barbecue chain opened in Jefferonstown in November.
38. Dirty Dough Cookies — 12905 Shelbyville Road. This Arizona-based cookie chain is expanding to Louisville.
39. Drake's — 1451 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana. A fourth area location of this burger restaurant opened in March.
40. Duck Donuts —12939 Shelbyville Road. This national doughnut chain is opening another Louisville location.
41. The Eagle — 7900 Shelbyville Road. The second Louisville location of this popular fried chicken and beer hall opened at the Oxmoor Center in late November.
42. Ehrler's Ice Cream — 2500 Bardstown Road. This new ice cream location opened in spring 2023.
43. Enso — 1756 Frankfort Ave. Ensō, a nontraditional Japanese restaurant with Southern flavors, will open in Clifton in October across from The Silver Dollar.
44. First Watch — 7714 Bardstown Road. A new First Watch location, the eighth in the Louisville area, opened in Fern Creek in August.
45. Fleur de Tea — 1212 S. Fourth St. The second location of this Louisville tea shop opened in Old Louisville in November.
46. The Flour Shoppe — 619 Baxter Ave. A vegan bakery from the people behind Sugar High Louisville and Julian's Kitchen opened in February.
47. Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers — 6209 Bardstown Road. A second location of this restaurant opened in a former Frisch’s Big Boy.
48. Fresco Tea Bar —1370 Veterans Parkway, Clarksville, Indiana. The third location of this bubble tea cafe opened in April.
49. Gordon Ramsay Steak — 11999 Casino Center Drive, Elizabeth, Indiana. This highly anticipated steakhouse, one of just five in the country, opened in Southern Indiana on the first weekend of January.
50. Goodbounce Pickleball Yard — 1515 River Shore Drive. A new bar is planned near the River Park Apartments with pickleball courts.
51. Green District — 3939 Shelbyville Road. A flagship location of this salad chain opened on Feb. 25 in St. Matthews.
52. Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken —117 S. Hurstbourne Parkway. This Memphis-based fried chicken restaurant opened a Louisville location in May.
53. Harvey's Cheese — 2011 Frankfort Ave. A flagship location of this cheese shop and restaurant opened in Clifton in late February.
54. Haraz Coffee House — 970 Baxter Ave. A Dearborn-based coffee shop opened in the Highlands next to Starbucks in January. A second location is planned for downtown Louisville.
55. Haymarket as Ashbourne Farms — 3810 Old Westport Road, La Grange. This is an immersive, farm-to-table experience where you can buy groceries, pre-made food and order smoothies and coffees in a cafe-like atmosphere.
56. Heine Brothers' Coffee — 7701 Bardstown Road. The first drive-thru-only location of Heine Bros. opened in Fern Creek in January.
57. Highlands Bar & Grill — 2280 Bardstown Road. This sports bar replaced the recently closed Diamond Station and opened in late February.
58. Home Run Burgers and Fries — 6600 Bardstown Road. The fifth location of this chain known for its high-quality burgers and fresh-cut fries opened in July.
59. Hotel Genevieve Bar — 730 E. Market St. A rooftop bar opened in the new Hotel Genevieve in NuLu.
60. The House of Marigold — 10310 Shelbyville Road. This catering company opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in the former Middletown Royals Hot Chicken location in March.
61. I Love Juice Bar — 10512 Meeting St. A second location of this family-owned juice bar opened in Norton Commons on Jan. 14.
62. I Love Pollo — 243 Blankenbaker Parkway. This restaurant opened in a former Starbucks.
63. Inkredible's Burgers and Shakes — 1800 W. Hill St. A drive-thru burger restaurant opened in Louisville's West End in a former Rally's location in January.
64. Island Breeze — 1991 Brownsboro Road. A Jamaican restaurant opened at the end of March.
65. Jack in the Box — 10700 Dixie Hwy. The first Louisville location of this West Coast chain opened in October.
66. Jack in the Box — 3232 Bardstown Road. Another location of this West Coast chain opened in late 2023.
67. Jaggers — 10690 Westport Road. A second location of this burger concept opened by the Aloft Louisville East hotel on Jan. 25.
68. Jaggers — 13801 English Villa Drive. A third location of Jaggers, a fast-casual chain started by the founder of Texas Roadhouse, opened in November.
69. Jeff's Donuts — 10513 Fischer Park Drive. Another Jeff's Donuts location is planned for the Louisville area.
70. El Jibarito — 4205 W. Highway 146, La Grange. A Puerto Rican restaurant opened on Feb. 4, replacing a pizzeria called Steve-O's.
71. Kabuki Hibachi & Ramen — 253 Spring St., Jeffersonville, Indiana. A second location of this hibachi restaurant opened in March.
72. King Buffet — 3020 Bardstown Road. An Asian buffet opened in the former Legend's Crab Seafood House in May.
73. Koko + Rae — 1511 Bardstown Road. This Caribbean fast-casual restaurant features build-your-own bowls or plates with protein options such as jerk chicken, spicy pulled pork, curry chicken, curry goat, jerk jackfruit, and Caribbean oxtail.
74. Kyros Brewing Co. — 2425 Portland Ave. Three couples teamed up to open a microbrewery in Portland in mid May.
75. The Keswick — 1127 Logan St. A bar with food trucks and games opened in the former Red Top Hotdogs space in January.
76. LaRosa's Pizza— 10641 Fischer Park Drive. The first Louisville location of this pizzeria opened on Jan. 23. It will share space with a First Watch in this new location.
77. La Cabanita — 4900 Poplar Level Road. A brick-and-mortar version of J's Street Bites food truck opened in early April.
78. La Catrina Mexican Kitchen — 125 W. Chestnut St., Jeffersonville, Indiana. A second location of this Mexican restaurant is now open.
79. Last Place at Number 15 — 122 W. Washington St. This eatery, which is open until 2 a.m., serves "elevated bar food" and "regional Americana fare."
80. Louisville Pizza King — 3505 Taylor Blvd. A new pizza shop opened in May.
81. Lil Toasty’s Food Truck — 514 Baxter Ave. A food truck version of Toasty’s Tavern became the permanent food vendor at Gravely Brewing Co. on March 22.
82. Lucky Penny — 730 E. Market St. A speakeasy opening in the new Hotel Genevieve in NuLu.
83. Lueberry Acai — 6308 Meeting St. The NuLu neighborhood's acai store is opening a location in Norton Commons.
84. Mama Shadia — 2300 W. Market St. A Middle Eastern restaurant opened in the Russell neighborhood in February.
85. Marco's Pizza — 8800 Dixie Highway, Suite E. This is the first Louisville location for a national chain that already has one spot in New Albany, Indiana.
86. MeeshMeesh Mediterranean — 636 E. Market St. The restaurant will add eastern Mediterranean food to NuLu’s vibrant restaurant scene with a menu full of flavors pulling from fare popular in places such as Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria in the building formerly housed by Wiltshire on Market.
87. Miki's Karaoke Bar — 2230 Frankfort Ave. This combination Korean restaurant and karaoke bar features make-your-own-bowl fare similar alongside Korean favorites.
88. Mirage Mediterranean Express — 4000 Dutchmans Lane. This takeout-focused Mediterranean restaurant opened on Jan. 24 in the former Peking City Express space.
89. Nami — 835 E. Main St. Celebrity chef Edward Lee opened a Korean restaurant in May to anchor an apartment complex near downtown Louisville.
90. Neighbors Noodles — 835 E. Main St. A tiny takeout-only noodle shop will also be housed in the Nami space near downtown Louisville.
91. Nic & Norman’s — 108 W. Washington St. This restaurant named after a producer and the star of “The Walking Dead” opened in early June behind Whiskey Row in the space that formerly housed Backside at Whiskey Row.
92. Noche Mexican BBQ — 712 Brent St. The second location of Noche Mexican BBQ joined a mix of food options inside The Village Market Food Hall & Bar in Paristown in November.
93. El Nopal — 4112 Outer Loop. Another location of this Mexican restaurant opened in Outer Loop.
94. El Nopal — 1440 Vaxter Ave., Clarksville, Indiana. El Nopal is taking over a former O'Charley's location.
95. Nostalgic — 1300 Bardstown Road. A bar and chophouse opened next to the new Bellwether hotel in February.
96. Number 15 — 121 W. Main St. A five-story bar and entertainment hall has opened downtown.
97. Osteria Italian Seafood — 1211 Herr Lane. This restaurant, which opened in September, will serve lobster sliders, oysters, and house-made pasta in the former Napa River Grill location.
98. OUTCAST Fish & Oyster — 207 E. Main St., New Albany, Indiana. A new seafood restaurant planned by Ian Hall, the owner behind Brooklyn & The Butcher and The Exchange Pub & Kitchen, opened in New Albany at the end of April.
99. Panera Bread — 2139 State St., New Albany, Indiana. A chain restaurant opened a new location.
100. Paradise Fine Indian and American Cuisine — 12951 Shelbyville Road. This Indian restaurant opened in the former Millions Crab location on Jan. 27.
101. Parlay — 416 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd. A new sports bar opened near Fourth Street Live in downtown Louisville on Feb. 1.
102. Parlour Pizza — 3910 Ruckriegel Parkway, Jeffersontown. After Chubby Ray’s closed in January, its owner sold the restaurant to Parlour, which did renovations and then opened in May.
103. Paseo — 900 Baxter Ave. This new restaurant is focused on wood-fired cooking and the many flavors of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine.
104. Pig Beach BBQ — 1201 River Road. This restaurant serves "chef-driven barbecue" with a view of the Ohio River in the former Doc Cantina’s location.
105. Playa Bowls — 12939 Shelbyville Road. This national chain opened its second Kentucky location in Middletown in mid-August.
106. The Post —1759 Bardstown Road. This Germantown pizza staple opened a carryout-only spot in the Highlands on Nov. 22.
107. Pretty Decent — 2235 Frankfort Ave. A plant shop and cocktail bar opened in Clifton.
108. Quills Coffee — 6324 River Beauty Loop. The largest Quill's Coffee shop opened in Norton Commons in early 2023.
109. Quills Coffee — 2001 Frankfort Ave. A new Quill's opened on Frankfort in May.
110. Quill's Coffee — 3939 Shelbyville Road. This location opened at the end of March.
111. Quills Coffee — 3628 Brownsboro Road. This Quill's Coffee opened in one of the former Breadworks locations.
112. Ramiro's Cantina Express — 149 S. Spring St., Jeffersonville, Indiana. This fast-casual version of Ramiro’s Cantina moved down the street to the former Dos Gringo’s spot.
113. Renshoku Ramen — 1161 S. Second St. A ramen-focused restaurant will open in the former Barry's Cheesesteaks location in May.
114. Roman's Asian Kitchen — 1155 Buck Creek Road. An Asian restaurant from the owner of El Nopal is planned to open at the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass.
115. Rosettes — 730 E. Market St. A restaurant has opened in the new Hotel Genevieve in NuLu.
116. Seafood Heaven — 600 E. Broadway. A seafood restaurant and market opened in Smoketown in February.
117. Senora Arepa — 117 St. Matthews Ave. A location of this Ole Restaurant Group concept opened in the former Steel City Pops/ Quills Coffee location.
118. The Shop One Stop: Your Creative Kitchen Space — 227 S. 30th St. Two local chefs have partnered to open a restaurant incubator in a 10,000-square-foot facility in west Louisville
119. La Sierra Tarasca — 9833 Third Street Road. A second location for this restaurant is on the way.
120. Sis Got Tea — 976 Barret Ave. A long-planned tea shop opened on April 9.
121. Sweet & Juicy Seafood — 8402 Hudson Lane. This food truck opened a restaurant space in Fern Creek in January.
122. Switchboard — 900 Baxter Ave. This new café and cocktail bar opened at The Myriad Hotel in September.
123. Ten20 Craft Brewery — 1400 Main St., Clarksville, Indiana. This local brewery is opening its fourth location.
124. Thornberrys, The Bakery Hub — 818 W. Kenwood Dr. This south-end bakery, which has been serving up tasty pies, cookies, sweets and more for almost 90 years in Louisville, re-opened an industrial kitchen inside The B.A. Colonial restaurant.
125. Tiger Sugar — 1501 Bardstown Road. A boba tea shop opened in the former Lulu's Frozen Yogurt & Treats.
126. Tikka Tacos — 3311 Preston Highway. The restaurant specializing in a fusion of Indian and Mexican cuisine opened in late 2023 in the former New Wave Burritos location.
127. Tomo Japanese Ramen Sushi — 5023 Mud Lane. A Japanese restaurant opened in March.
128. Tres Amigos Mexican Restaurant — 9921 Ormsby Station Road. A Mexican restaurant is opening in the former Guaca Mole space. Guaca Mole has since moved to NuLu.
129. Tropical Smoothie Cafe— 1586 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana. A smoothie shop opened in March.
130. Tropical Smoothie Cafe — 4114 Summit Plaza Drive. A national smoothie and sandwich chain opening in the Paddock Shops.
131. TurnStation Brewing Co. — GlenOaks Country Club, 10601 Worthington Lane. The brewery serves craft beer with golf-themed drinks like the Links Lager and the Three-Quarter Swing.
132. Veronica's Mexican Restaurant — 5044 Poplar Level Road. A Mexican restaurant opened on April 7.
133. Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux — 970 E. Lewis and Clark Parkway, Clarksville, Indiana. A new restaurant co-owned by retired NFL quarterback Drew Brees features a Louisiana-inspired menu, including waffle cheese fries, fried alligator and chicken and sausage gumbo.
134. Wally's — 1220 Market St., La Grange. A former executive chef at The Brown Hotel opened a brunch restaurant in La Grange in February.
135. WNB Factory — 1019 Bardstown Road. An Atlanta-based chain has opened in the former La Que location.
136. The Yellow Cactus — 2350 Frankfort Ave. This Mexican restaurant has opened in the space long held by Ramiro’s Cantina, which closed in December.

Restaurants coming to Louisville in 2024:
Here are the restaurants that have been announced to open around Louisville:
1. Andy's Frozen Custard — 11600 Shelbyville Road. This quick-service frozen dessert business is opening its first Louisville location in 2024.
2. Bojangles— 2717 S. Hurstbourne Parkway. A new structure will be built at this address for the first Louisville location of the Bojangles franchise.
3. Bojangles — 4023 Poplar Level Road. A second location is in the works for Louisville.
4. Bubba's 33 — 10435 Southpointe Blvd. A burger, pizza, and beer restaurant is planned for Louisville.
5. CM Chicken — 221 Frankfort Ave. A Korean-style fried chicken restaurant is expected to open in March in the former Comfy Cow ice cream shop space.
6. Heard — 1601 Story Ave. A new bar and restaurant will open in the former Gold Bar and Butchertown Social space. The bar is expected to open in Spring 2024. It was previously going to be named The Sphinx.
*7. Hi-Five Doughnuts — 1940 Harvard Drive. This doughnut shop outgrew its Butchertown space and is moving into Douglass Loop.
8. Hop Atomica — 1318 McHenry St. A brewery, distillery and pizzeria is expected to open in Germantown.
9. HWA Korean Grill Kitchen — 1164 S. Third St. A Korean grill is opening in Louisville.
10. Inside Job Brewing Co. — 1031 S. Sixth St. The brewery previously known as Oldham Brewing Co. is changing its name and moving to Old Louisville.
11. Kiwami Ramen — 1700 Bardstown Road. Wild Ginger Sushi Bistro, an Asian fusion restaurant in Deer Park, has permanently closed and will be replaced by Kiwami Ramen, is expected to open in 2024.
12. Limon y Sal — 2222 Dundee Road. Mexican restaurant Limon y Sal is planning a second location to open in the former Hammerheads in the Highlands.
13. The Misfit Lou — 119 S. 7th St. The Misfit Lou, a bar and restaurant with a movie theater downstairs, plans to open by the end of 2023 in the downtown building formerly occupied by Jimmy Can't Dance and Another Place Sandwich Shop.
14. Nu Restaurant Bar Rooftop — 811 E. Market St. This rooftop bar is planned for NuLu.
15. Peach Cobbler Factory — 801 W. Broadway. A third Louisville location of Peach Cobbler Factory is opening in downtown Louisville.
16. Quills Coffee — 3628 Brownsboro Road. A Quill's Coffee is taking up in one of the former Breadworks locations.
17. The Sake a Go Go — 620 E. Market St. A new Japanese-inspired restaurant serving sushi and sashimi is set to open in NuLu this winter.
18. Top 1 Korean BBQ & Hotpot —1803 Bardstown Road. A Korean barbecue restaurant is planned for Louisville in early January.
19. Trellis Brewing — 827 Logan St. A new brewery and taproom is planned to open in Smoketown.
