Just when I was beginning to feel like our refrigerator was organized, my family and I moved to a new house. We love our new home, but the fridge is almost half the size, so it always feels cramped and disorganized. Every time I open it to grab a LaCroix or make breakfast for my kids, I tell myself, “I need to figure out a system.” I finally came up with a solution.

While a compact space can serve as motivation to declutter, I didn’t see myself buying fewer groceries just because I have a smaller fridge. Instead, I needed to figure out how to make the most of the space I do have — taking advantage of every possible square inch while keeping most-used items visible and accessible. And choosing the right organizing products can be a huge help with that.

What Makes the YouCopia RollOut Fridge Caddy So Great

The YouCopia RollOut Fridge Caddy solved that problem fast (and on the cheap). The clear, acrylic organizer has three compartments, and the dividers are adjustable, making it easy to customize depending on what you put inside. The sides are tall enough to prevent things from toppling over when you move the caddy around, but not too tall that they prevent you from easily grabbing them. The best part though? The organizer has smooth wheels, so you can easily slide it out to grab something rather than reaching your arm into the back of the fridge.

It comes in 4-, 6-, and 9-inch sizes, for you to choose the one that makes sense for your needs. I went with the 4-inch version, as my refrigerator is fairly narrow. I ended up filling mine with jars of peanut butter and jelly, because they always get hidden in the recesses of the fridge and I’m short on door space. Now, when it’s time to make my kids’ lunches, I simply slide the caddy out and grab what I need, or just take the whole caddy out of the fridge. It’s also easy to see how much PB is left, so I can re-order it as needed. I can already picture myself using the caddy for yogurt, kids’ snacks, condiments, or even fruit.

If you decide to take my advice and buy the caddy, there are a few things you should know. While all of the peanut butter and jelly jars I’m storing in it are around the same size, if you’re putting items of different heights in the caddy, I’d recommend putting the tallest in the back so you can easily see every item. Moving the dividers around can help secure taller, thinner bottles too, so they don’t fall when you pull the caddy out.

No matter what you store inside, though, this organizer is an inexpensive-but-impactful way to keep your fridge tidy and your routines convenient.
