'This $30 Moisturizer Is The Only One That Heals My Sensitive Skin'
I have temperamental skin. One week, I'm blessed with zero breakouts, plumpness, and an even tone. The next, I'm dealing with a bout of dry, red splotchiness and cysts along my chin. It's part of my job to constantly test out new makeup and skincare products, which doesn't help my case. One too many active ingredients, and my skin is shot for days–unable to tolerate anything without stinging on contact.
For those SOS moments, I minimize my usual multi-step routine to just two things: cleanse and moisturize. And, my moisturizer of choice is none other than Honest Beauty's The Daily Calm Lightweight Moisturizer. Let me break down why it's the absolute best if you're face is acting up.
It is sensitive skin-friendly.
First of all, the moisturizer is fragrance-free. Fragrance is a frequent trigger for me, so that gains my trust. Second, the formula is gentle enough to actually be recognized by the National Eczema Association, so you know it won't further irritate you if your skin is unstable like mine.
It feels like a hug for your skin.
That is, it's extra comforting. This is thanks to ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin to attract more hydration in your skin. My skin looks more plump after applying and, after a month or so of using, I definitely feel like it's less irritated and red.
Its consistency is creamy but light.
As someone with quite oily skin, I don't usually go for intense cream moisturizers because they can feel pretty heavy. When my skin's barrier is compromised, however, it feels stripped and tight. All I want is an icing-like consistency to coat my face in–and that's exactly what The Daily Calm feels like without the weight. It absorbs nicely, however, so you don't get any greasiness. I use it day and night.
It has convenient, hygienic packaging.
The moisturizer comes out in a pump, which I actually prefer to a tub of moisturizer so I can avoid double-dipping my fingers into the formula (and exposing it to bacteria). Plus, the bottle is clear so you can see exactly how much of your product is left–and when it's time for a restock.
