The 5 must-have items editors will be wearing this fashion month
As fashion month officially kicks off tomorrow with Tom Ford's NYFW show, fashion editors and the street style crew are busy packing their cases for a month on the road. And besides the shows themselves, it's what these women wear which will provide style inspiration in the coming weeks as they descend upon the streets of New York, London, Milan and Paris.
Heere are the 5 key pieces set to dominate their wardrobes and which you should be adding to your shopping basket to get ahead of the curve...
1. The off kilter skirt
The uneven hemline cropped up many times on the catwalk over the AW18 fashion month and because it's universally flattering, we can expect to see plenty of real life versions . Brandon Maxwell went for slashed hems on evening wear, while Chloe’s floatier hemlines saw a softer approach to the trend. A wrap skirt with waterfall hem is the easiest way to wear this look, or for the more daring try a staggered pleated skirt as seen at Joseph and Celine.

2. White shoes
The white boot is a fail-safe way to elevate any look and was already popular with street stylers last season. From cowboy boots at Isabel Marant, to smart pointed styles at Givenchy, the white shoe is an instant outfit update. It’s the ideal alternative to the trainer and if you’re looking to make a statement, it packs more punch than a black ankle boot. Team up a chunky heeled boot with a floral printed skirt or dress for an effortless autumn look.

3. The belt bag
A firm favourite last season, the belt-bag trend is only gathering more speed. From Gucci padded varieties to Miu Miu metallics, they are sure to be a key hands-free look over fashion month. For a seasonal overhaul, try a more luxe leather or velvet bag and wear it slung across the body.

4. The statement coat
A statement coat is a key piece for winter and even the long-term favourites of camel, navy and black cover-ups have had a seasonal update. A textured teddy coat will liven up last season's camel, or a bold print is a perfect addition to your everyday wardrobe. Even the timeless trench coat has got a new look with its own statement options available to perk up your look-a patent leather belted one is the perfect choice for this season.

5. Something leather
No longer reserved for jackets, shoes and bags, leather is creeping into our wardrobes via skirts, shirts, trousers and even dresses this season. Keep a look out for leather in 70s tones such as mustard, burnt orange and burgundy to add an autumnal spin or keep it classic in black or navy. For colder days, mix and match with chunky knits, teddy bear coats and tweed for a textural contrast.
