Keep hearing the name Kacey Musgraves this week? Well, in case you didn't know, she's kind of a big deal in the music industry, and it is Grammys season, so that makes a ton of sense. The 30-year-old country star grabbed her first Grammy in 2013, and this year she's up for a few more. Here's what you need to know before she hits the awards circuit this year.
1. This year, she's got four chances to add to her Grammy collection.
Kacey has four Grammy nominations this year; Album of the Year for Golden Hour, Best Country Solo Performance for "Butterflies," Best Country Song for "Space Cowboy," and Best Country Album for Golden Hour.
In 2013, Kacey took home the awards for Best Country Song for "Merry Go 'Round," and Best Country Album for Same Trailer Different Park. That year, she was also nominated for Best New Artist, and "Mama's Broken Heart" got a nomination for Best Country Song.
In 2015, her sophomore album, Pageant Material, received a Best Country Album nomination. Damn, girl.
2. She'll perform with Katy Perry, Maren Morris, and Little Big Town to honor Dolly Parton.
Country icon Dolly Parton is getting a MASSIVE tribute at this year's Grammys. Kacey, Katy, Maren, and Little Big Town are all set to sing covers of Dolly's most legendary songs. Yeehaw.
3. She's not like a regular country singer. She's a cool country singer.
Kacey is undoubtedly a country musician, but her sound leans towards pop. "I feel like I make country music for people who like country music and for people who don't," she says.
Even if you steer clear of country radio stations and playlists, you've probably heard a Kacey Musgraves song. "Merry Go 'Round" spent 15 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2013.
4. Kacey's husband is also a country singer.
In 2017, Kacey married country singer Ruston Kelly. The couple met in Nashville in 2016, at the Bluebird Cafe, where Ruston was performing. She approached him afterwards, and the pair set up a songwriting session. They totally fell in ~luv~ and Kacey says their marriage inspires her music. CUTE!
5. She has her own cowboy boots collaboration.
