7 ‘Cheap But Good’ Trader Joe’s Wines, According to Fans

Last month's launch of Costco's Advent Wine Calendar sparked Internet celebrations. The good news is the calendar has arrived and the price hasn't gone up. The bad news? You're technically supposed to wait until Dec. 1.

Do you need a vino to sip or cook with before the calendar flips to December? Mosey on down to Trader Joe's, where fans swear you can find great bottles at basement prices—as in under $15

"Does anyone have the cheap but good wine list handy?" asked u/PaulbunyanIND in the Trader Joe's subreddit. "Please share any opinions about the [around] $10 USD wines that are better than you'd expect for that price... I'm fiending for the more-expensive-than-store-brand [wines] but still cheap."

7 Best Trader Joe's Wines Under $15

1. Trader Joe's Red Wines

Though the best wine for your meal is one you like, hearty dishes like pasta and steak traditionally call for a red. Lighter red wines are great for fall, while deeper, richer reds make for excellent nightcaps when the mercury drops lower.

"They have an Espresso Toasted Oak red blend that is my go-to causal drinking wine," spilled a lover of the Cocobon red blend with notes of cherry, blackberry and vanilla.

"I really like the Moon X Red Wine," wrote another. "It is easy drinking. [It's] a crowd pleaser but not boring and a great value (I think $6.99/bottle?). They have a few different ones and single varietals, but I like the blend best."

"Currently drinking the Moon X Blend based on the recommendation on here and am liking it — good value," concurred a new fan.

2. Trader Joe's White Wines

Sommeliers will often suggest white vinos for lighter fare, like salmon, chicken and salads. And, though cooler temperatures traditionally call for a red, white wine is so versatile it makes for an excellent ingredient for some of the season's favorite dishes.

"The [Cocobon] Chardonnay is fine to drink, but it’s heavenly to cook with as it tastes like butter wine," said a shopper. "I’ve used it in pasta sauce, pot pie filling [and] onion soup."

"The Sauvignon de Seguin Bordeaux [for] $6 Is my go-to cheap bottle of white for sauces, which I then proceed to have in its entirety with dinner," shared a fan.

Another Redditor was eager to agree.

"That is a fabulous wine," the person replied. "It's [definitely] worth stocking up when they have it.

3. Trader Joe's Rosé and Sparkling Wines

Are you in the mood for rosé or sparkling wine instead? Redditors dish that Trader Joe's has options that taste expensive (but aren't).

"I love the Giardino Pinot Grigio Rosé Vivace," wrote one person. "It's so yummy. I was surprised at how much I like it, but now I grab a bottle every other time I go."

Sparkling offerings are ideal for mimosa-mixing and glass-clinking during the upcoming holiday season.

"Trader Joe’s Blanc de Blancs French Sparkling Wine," wrote one person of the limited seasonal varietal.

"The La Granja Brut Cava at $6.99 is highly decent for a sparkling," said someone else.

"Hell yes," a fan agreed. "We're having people over, and we would look fancy if we muddled pomegranate seeds and put the juice in the top."
