The 7 most iconic 'Sex and the City' fashion items you can still buy today

Wednesday, June 6, marks the 20th anniversary of the premiere of Sex and the City — the television show that made household names of Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon. Focused on fashion, sex, and career women, it was a show ahead of its time — not to mention the fact that during the show’s six seasons, Carrie Bradshaw’s closet became a character of its own.

Patricia Field, the show’s costume designer, can be largely credited with Bradshaw’s statement-making fashion, which helped to popularize Manolo Blahnik stilettos, nameplate necklaces, newsboy caps, and much more.

While the show ran between 1998-2004, many of the fashionable staples from the series have since resurfaced on the runways. For instance, Chanel brought back newsboy caps for its 2017 Métiers d’Art show, and Gucci and Supreme have popularized fanny packs once again — a Carrie Bradshaw favorite.

Below are seven fashion accessories beloved by the characters of Sex and the City and all available to shop today. You know — in case you need to channel your inner Carrie.

The Dior Saddle bag is one of the most memorable of Bradshaw’s many handbags. It was designed by Dior’s then creative director, John Galliano, in 1999. During the aughts, celebrities like Paris Hilton and Beyoncé sported the bag. Interestingly, Dior decided to bring back the saddle bag this year for the fall/winter 2018 collection. Until the updated versions are available, you can still buy vintage Dior Saddle bags on sites like eBay, The Real Real, and Poshmark.
