7 places to go tubing around Colorado

DENVER (KDVR) — The landlocked Centennial State doesn’t have a spot next to the ocean, but there are still ways to cool off without a pool in your backyard — for many Coloradans, this includes tubing down creeks and rivers.

It doesn’t take much. All you need is a river that allows tubing and a tube.

Earlier this season, places like Clear Creek and Boulder Creek enforced tubing bans because the snowmelt rose water levels on creeks and river waters. Now, tubing bans on many popular creeks have been lifted.

Here are some places to tube around Denver:

Before you head out, check the town’s website to ensure there are no tubing bans at the time and to see if the river is still allowing tubing. Sometimes, the water level is too high and tubing isn’t allowed for the day. Generally, tubing season runs from May through September.

There are other tubing places in Colorado, but they will be a further drive. Here are some tubing rivers and creeks in the state:

Some companies by the river and creeks offer tubing rentals. While these areas allow personal floats, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office recommends wearing safety gear like a life jacket, helmet and a drysuit or wetsuit when water temperatures are low.
