Adele Explains Why She Collapsed Backstage at Las Vegas Residency
Adele shocked the crowd during her recent Las Vegas residency concert after sharing a pretty intense health update.
The "Easy on Me" songstress told the crowd at Caesars Palace that shortly before she took the stage to perform at the Colosseum Theatre, she experienced a flare-up of her sciatica, which caused her to fall. Unable to move, she recalled a member of her production team finding her backstage.
"They picked my whole body up off the floor," Adele explained to concertgoers per The Sun.
"I am going to sit down and rest my sciatica," the 35-year-old singer continued. "Early on this year, I started bragging about my sciatica, I wasn’t feeling it anymore. Then God brought it back."
Earlier this year, the Grammy winner admitted that she was in debilitating pain caused by sciatica, a pain that originates along your sciatic nerve–the largest nerve in the body, extending from the back of your pelvis down the back of your thigh–according to experts at Johns Hopkins.
This past New Year's Eve, Adele described being unable to walk normally due to the symptoms of the painful spinal nerve condition. "I have to waddle these days as I have really bad sciatica," she shared with the crowd in Vegas.
A month later, she divulged further, detailing disc issues during a show in February. "Is anyone else kind of my age starting getting bad knees? I have got really bad sciatica in my left leg and my L5 disc is not f***ing there anymore. It's worn away," Adele shared.
The award-winning artist has spent the last few years shedding light on her health issues and how she's overcome the obstacles by focusing on getting strong. During an interview with The Face in Nov. 2021, the mother of one described how her fitness journey has helped her overcome her pain, which she revealed she has felt for "half" her life.
"I’ve been in pain with my back for, like, half of my life, really. It flares up, normally due to stress or from a stupid bit of posture. But where I got my tummy strong, down at the bottom, which I never had before, my back don’t play up as much. It means I can do more, I can run around with my kid a little bit more," she shared at the time.
So long as she can safely manage her symptoms, Adele's current Las Vegas residency, "Weekends With Adele," will continue into November, with many more concerts scheduled at Caesars Palace's Colosseum Theatre.
