Alex Borstein Accepted Her Emmy Without a Bra and We're All Inspired
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Alex Borstein won an Emmy Award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and she did it in the most DGAF fashion. Let's relive it in all its glory, shall we?
The first thing she did after her name was announced was remove the wrap layered over her dress in the most dramatic way possible. Then she approached the stage with a sassy shimmy because she could.
As soon as she began her acceptance speech, she patted her boobs and said, "I went without the bra!"
Twitter went crazy over it.
Then she proceeded to give some tips on public restroom etiquette. "Ladies, when you use a public restroom, sit down," she said. "If you sit, we can all sit. Stop peeing on the seat."
Borstein also thanked her team and costars at Mrs. Maisel-the Amazon hit starring Rachel Brosnahan as the titular stand-up comedian-and her family. She gave an especially touching shoutout to her father. "You are the only man who's truly loved or taken care of me. Thank you for that," she said.
And she made a promise to her kids: "Thank you for giving me a life and I'm gonna try to be there for more of it."
Perhaps the most DGAF moment of Borstein's Emmys night was the fact that she rewore her wedding gown from a previous marriage to the ceremony. "This is actually my wedding dress," she told Glamour (per People).
"The marriage didn’t last but the dress did and I wanted to give it new life so now it’s my Emmys dress. That’s the truth." She was married to actor Jackson Douglas from 1999 to 2014, People reports.
What a queen.
