Alliance students give caboose a new look
Art students from Alliance High School have given the Downtown Alliance Caboose a new look.
The historic train caboose has come full circle since a February 2023 arson fire caused heavy damage. In the months since, the city worked to repair and paint the structure, and now it has received a new decorative coat of red paint and a music-leaning design.
As part of the initial restoration, the windows on the caboose were sealed to help prevent vandalism. Use of the caboose mainly as a stage for summer concerts.
Rick Baxter, the president of Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce, reached out to Steve Cabassa at Alliance High School and asked for help. The design now includes the images that depict people inside dancing.
A group of six students ? Garrett Adkins, Madyson Kline, Eliza McDonald, Mia Pasco, Ally Sherwood and Evan Winans ? was selected to complete the project.
