Allison Mack Out of Prison Early After Serving Time for NXIVM Involvement
Allison Mack was released early from her prison sentence for her involvement in the NXIVM sex cult led by Keith Raniere.
In June 2021, Mack was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to various charges, including racketeering conspiracy and racketeering, as reported by People.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, Mack was released on July 3, 2023, after serving her sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons shared in a statement with People that Mack's release came about as a part of the First Step Act (FSA), signed into law in 2018, which allows inmates to earn a certain number of days of "good conduct" each year.
Mack, an actress whose most prominent role was Chloe Sullivan in the WB series Smallville, was first arrested in April 2018, facing accusations that she recruited sex slaves for Raniere, as well as forced labor, racketeering, wire fraud and other charges.
After pleading guilty, Mack faced a maximum of 40 years in prison ahead of sentencing. Prosecutors requested a lesser sentence for the now-40-year-old, arguing that she "provided substantial assistance to the government" for the persecution of her co-accused.
Ahead of her sentencing, Mack also shared a letter, addressed to “those who have been harmed by my actions."
Obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Mack said, "It is now of paramount importance for me to say, from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry. I threw myself into the teachings of Keith Raniere with everything I had. I believed, whole-heartedly, that his mentorship was leading me to a better, more enlightened version of myself."
"I devoted my loyalty, my resources, and, ultimately, my life to him. This was the biggest mistake and regret of my life," she added.
Raniere, 62, was convicted of federal sex crimes and other charges related to his actions as the leader of NXIVM, which described itself as a self-help group but many believe fit the characteristics of a cult. He was sentenced to 120 years in prison.
