Amy Robach's '20/20' Replacement Officially Confirmed
Nearly a year after Amy Robach left ABC following her romance scandal with her former Good Morning America 3 co-anchor T.J. Holmes, her position on 20/20 has finally been filled.
After working as a contributor on the investigative series for nearly 30 years, Deborah Roberts will be joining David Muir as co-anchor—while continuing to act as a senior national affairs correspondent with the network.
In a memo published by Adweek, ABC News president Kim Godwin announced the appointment early on Tuesday, Sept. 26. "Deborah has been reporting for 20/20 since 1995, covering everything from profiles of political figures to the most shocking crime cases gripping the nation," she wrote, calling the reporter a "skilled investigative journalist" and an "empathetic reporter" before listing off Roberts' myriad of accomplishments throughout her years with the network.
?? We're thrilled @ABC News announced @DebRobertsABC as the new Co-Anchor of 20/20! ??

Godwin also noted that the transition comes "at an exciting time," as the program enters its 46th season of producing "innovative weekly documentaries and top-notch journalism." She added, "There is no limit to what this powerhouse team can accomplish next."
Roberts, who recently celebrated her 28th anniversary with Today's Al Roker, celebrated the announcement on Instagram, posting a photo of herself and Muir standing seriously next to one another.
She shared how "thrilled and humbled" she is to be joining Muir. "We are proud to carry on the tradition of in-depth reporting on this venerable newsmagazine which has revealed truths and opened hearts and minds for 46 years, beginning with the great Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs," she wrote. "It is the thrill of a lifetime to travel the path which Barbara cleared for women like me who dreamed of reporting meaningful and life changing stories. What a privilege and honor to keep the legacy going."
"Let’s go! ??," Muir wrote in response.
Robach was released from the network in January alongside Holmes after the two were caught wrapped up in some major PDA—while married to other people.
