Amy Schumer is 'really happy' after liposuction: 'I feel a lot better about myself'

Amy Schumer continues to keep it real with fans about her journey with liposuction after sharing on Instagram in January that she had the procedure done. In conversation with Hoda Kotb, the comedian said that she's "really happy" with how she looks and feels.

The 40-year-old made an appearance on the Making Space with Hoda Kotb podcast, where she shared that she's been having a "magical moment" with the release of her new Hulu show Life & Beth and her gig as co-host of the 2022 Oscars. Schumer couldn't help but to also point out the newfound confidence that the procedure gave her as well.

"I was just like in a weird moment after having a hysterectomy and I’m like you know what, I have the time right now," Schumer explained of her decision to get liposuction. "I tried CoolSculpting and I didn’t personally have any results from that. And I’ve tried everything else and you know, having a C-section and the kind of endometriosis I have, things around the midsection … I’ve been uncomfortable, like physically uncomfortable."

Schumer went on to explain that if she was willing "to basically give myself frostbite" through CoolSculpting to minimize a part of her body that she wasn't happy with, she should be willing to undergo a procedure that she knows would actually achieve her intended results.

"I did it and it worked," she said of getting liposuction. "And I feel a lot better about myself, so I wanted to share with people just because I can’t lie about myself. I can’t do it."

Although she's been open about her decision, rather than lying to people about implementing a new diet and exercise routine, Schumer struggled with guilt over her access to such a procedure.

"I was feeling bad because it’s such a privilege thing and you know people with money they also drive nice cars. So my nice car is that I had a liter of fat sucked out of my belly," she said. "I’m trying to keep it in perspective, I try to keep everything in perspective."

It's all a part of how Schumer likes to "keep it real," which she also does by largely staying off of social media.

"I haven’t been on Twitter in probably eight years. I don’t read comments or anything," she said of avoiding negativity that has inundated her before. "I’ll usually see hate by accident but I do read reviews and that kind of stuff. I don’t know, it’s just I’ve learned not to take things personally. And I think there’s a lot to be learned from criticism also. But not from truly internet trolls, I don’t think there’s any value to that."

Luckily, through her years in Hollywood thus far she's learned "there’s so much love for me out there that I really appreciate."
