Angelina Jolie Is Glorious In The 'Maleficent 2' Trailer
Hell hath no fury like Maleficent scorned, and Disney's newest trailer for the upcoming live-action film Maleficent: Mistress of Evil gives us a taste of what happens when our mean green machine is provoked.
The new trailer begins with Prince Phillip proposing to Aurora (Elle Fanning). But when the good news travels back to Maleficent, she makes it clear Price Phillip and Aurora won't receive her blessing—not that Aurora asked for it in the first place. "Love doesn't always end well, Beastie," Maleficent tells Aurora, to which she replies, "Trust me. Let us prove you wrong."
According to a press release, in the new movie, "Maleficent and her goddaughter Aurora begin to question the complex family ties that bind them as they are pulled in different directions by impending nuptials, unexpected allies and dark new forces at play." What "dark forces"? Oh, just Michelle freaking Pfeiffer.
Aurora somehow convinces Maleficent to accompany her to join Prince Phillip's family for a meeting where Phillip's mother, Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer), becomes next on Maleficent's hit list.
"You have done an admirable job going against your nature to raise this child but now she will finally get the love of a real mother," the Queen says, as Aurora subtly rests her hand on Maleficent's glowing green hand to calm her down. Then, Queen Ingrith takes it even further by calling Aurora "my own."
Of course, this doesn't sit well with Maleficent, who proclaims, "There is no union. There will be no wedding." Maleficent's actions cause a rift between her and Aurora, which is exactly what Queen Ingrith had hoped for.
