Angelina Jolie Reveals What it Was Like Working With Her Sons on Movie Project
Angelina Jolie is giving her kids a taste of the on-set lifestyle.
Without Blood, the film Jolie directed, featured her two sons—18-year-old Pax and 21-year-old Maddox.
The actress recently sat down with PEOPLE to discuss the film and what it was like working with her kin.
"We work well together," she said, noting, "When a film crew is at its best, it feels like a big family, so it felt natural."
Her sons both worked in the assistant director department, serving as liaisons between the film's director (their mother) and the other departments affiliated with the movie, but this wasn't Pax's first time at the rodeo when it came to making an appearance on-set with his famous mom.
The 18-year-old previously worked on Jolie's 2017 film, First They Killed My Father, as a behind-the-scenes photographer, shooting stills for the movie. Pax also "worked hard," according to Jolie, on the Without Blood set shooting behind-the-scenes footage as well.
The actress went on to rave about her children, expressing, "I'm proud that they are all very much their own people." She continued: "Very different and still a very close family that learn from each other."
Without Blood marks Jolie's fifth time directing a feature-length film. The movie is based on the 2002 novel written by Alessandro Barrico and features stars Salma Hayek and Demian Bichir.
"The book had an impact on me as it has so many other people," Jolie stated. She went on to explain that the book "carries themes and questions important to discuss."
The director sent praise to her coworkers, commenting on how "Salma and Demián are very authentic and brave in this film. I had been a fan of their work. I knew they would bring solid commitment and craft to the film but honestly, they both blew me away."
A Without Blood premiere date has not yet been released.
