Angry dad brings loaded AK-47 to middle school after son called him crying, police say
A dad in West Palm Beach, Fla., was arrested on Monday after showing up to his son’s school armed with an AK-47 handgun and threatening a teacher who allegedly “slammed” the boy, according to the police.
Earlier in the day, at about 3 p.m., Christopher Freeman received a FaceTime call from his son, who told his dad through tears that a teacher had pushed him, the Miami Herald quoted authorities as saying. An assistant principal reportedly intervened during the call, and Freeman yelled, “You’re all dead!” Then the faculty member grabbed the boy, and the call ended.

An hour later, Freeman, who was in a wheelchair, burst into Bear Lakes Middle School with the weapon sticking out of his pants, the arrest record reads. He was visibly distraught, according to the Sun-Sentinel, and shouted, “I want to see the guy who slammed my son. I’ve got something for him.”
Police for the Palm Beach County School District quickly arrived on campus and put the school on code red lockdown during the incident. Then an officer approached Freeman and took him outside to question him, officials said, and when asked if he was armed and whether police could search him, Freeman replied, “You ain’t touching me.”
The dad was searched anyway by backup police officers, and that’s when an a AK-47 Mini Draco pistol was discovered stuffed in his pants. It was loaded with an extended 30-round magazine and a bullet in the chamber, police say.
Officers said Freeman later told them he had purchased the gun a year ago from a friend and carried it for protection. He claimed to have forgotten he had the AK-47 on him and said he was unaware that weapons were not allowed on school property. He also said he hadn’t planned on harming anyone.
Police charged the dad with possession of a firearm on school grounds, aggravated assault with a weapon and disrupting a school function. Freeman’s bond was set at $75,000. Yahoo Lifestyle has reached out to the Palm Beach County School District for further comment.
