Anne Hathaway’s Pre-Baby Cutoffs Don’t Fit Her Anymore — and She’s Not Losing Sleep Over It
Anne Hathaway has been a mom for only four and a half months, but she is dispensing some especially sage motherly advice.
The Alice Through the Looking Glass actress, who welcomed son Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman on March 24, doesn’t fit into her pre-baby cutoff jean shorts. She’s not sitting home crying about it or starving herself so they fit again. She’s cutting a new pair of shorts that do fit — and she’s not going to feel bad about it.
On Tuesday the new mom, 33, posted a photo of her DIY project — scissors, pencil, tape measure — atop a colorful rug, along with a really inspiring message to other women, both pregnant and not.

“There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever),” wrote Hathaway, who has yet to publicly share a photo of her new addition. “There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all). There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs.”
The Oscar winner ended with “Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love
(don’t let anyone tell you otherwise),” and the hashtags #noshame and #lovewhatyouhavebeengiven.”
The post already has 143,000 likes and 1,786 comments, so let’s just say her words are well received.
This summer we’ve been treated to some inspiring advice from some of Hollywood’s leading ladies. In addition to Hathaway, Renée Zellweger and Jennifer Aniston have both offered up important words about body shaming. Who said the Internet is just a waste of time?
