Face mask fogging up your glasses? There’s a $9 fix for that

Glasses wearers have a particular problem when donning face masks: The coverings make their lenses fog up, causing clouded vision. Whether you keep your glasses on and deal with the fogginess or decide to forgo them, you’re left in a sticky situation.
Sure, you could invest in some contacts, or you could go for a cheaper option: Amazon has a $9 anti-fog spray from Optix 55 that’ll instantly prep your glasses to repel the steam from your breath that travels up through the mask.
You may have tried treatments like this before, but nearly 5,000 reviewers swear by this one. While many anti-fog sprays require the product to sit on your lenses for 25 minutes before being wiped away, this version has no wait time — just spray, wipe and you’re all set. It’s formulated with safe, hypoallergenic ingredients, too.
Essential worker-approved
One frontline healthcare worker said that it’s been a hero product at a COVID-19 testing center: “At the beginning of this pandemic I decided to get this wonderful product! We are a clinic that continually is dealing with treating COVID-19 patients and swabbing them out in their cars,” says the reviewer. “The doctor and I were both so impressed with this product immediately. I referred several other healthcare coworkers to also buy this product to eliminate fog from our glasses and goggles. The glasses remain crystal clear, with no retouch during the day and no sensitivity to the product.”
Great for workouts
Anybody who needs glasses or goggles for exercise will also be pleasantly surprised. “A season of basketball and the beginning of football season, still the same song: My son’s sports glasses would fog up. Every five minutes I would need to wipe them clean just for them to fog up minutes later. This went on for as long the activity was going on,” wrote a reviewer. “I tried the shaving cream, and even broke down to the saliva trick. Those ways provided a bit more time but still were not good enough. I purchased Fog Gone and I will tell you, I do not have to wipe them for some time. To be honest, I think the stuff stays on for days. I did not spray daily and my son still says they still are not fogging up on him. Knowing what it does and that it works, I think I would pay 30 dollars for it.”
Use it for other stuff, too
Use it on your bathroom mirror, windshield, swim or sport goggles, or anything else that tends to fog up. You only need one spray per glasses lens, and a small bottle contains 400 sprays, so this stuff should last a long time.
“It's tough to shave after a shower when your mirror has condensation/fog. Two fixes came to mind: replace the ventilation fan with a proper unit at around $120 (which I will do later), or try this anti-fog product for $9,” writes a reviewer who says a little goes a long way. “I sprayed this onto the mirror and wiped with a circular motion (I did this three times because it is an old mirror and a large surface), followed by wiping it clear with a dry cloth. 95 percent of the product is still in the bottle after this one use. Very nice results.”
