Arrest Warrant Issued for Drew Barrymore's Alleged Stalker
A judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of Chad Michael Busto, the man accused of stalking Drew Barrymore over the last few weeks.
Busto failed to appear to be fitted with his court-ordered GPS monitor, resulting in a bench warrant for his arrest, Southampton Town Justice Court Clerk Heather Drapal told TMZ.
The drama started when he rushed toward the stage at New York City's 92nd St Y on Aug. 21, where the talk show host was holding a conversation with Reneé Rapp about her new album.
The singer calmly took control of the situation when Busto announced himself, telling Barrymore, "You know who I am. I need to see you at some point while I'm here in New York." As security herded the man out of the venue, Rapp escorted the Ever After star offstage to safety.
Police were not called as a result of that incident, but days later, Busto was arraigned in Long Island after he was caught going door to door in the actress' neighborhood in the Hamptons, asking other residents where he could find her house. He pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor stalking charge and was released without bail.
Busto told reporters on his way out of court that he had been issued an order to stay away from the actress.
Prior to the new warrant, he was due back in court on Sept. 12, where he planned to represent himself. It's unclear at this time if that date will change as a result of the new charge.
