Ava DuVernay Will Direct 'The Battle of Versailles,' A Story About The Most Epic Runway Show
Ava DuVernay-love of our lives, gentlewoman, and a scholar-will direct The Battle of Versailles for HBO Films.
On the heels of announcements that she will helm both an adaption of A Wrinkle in Time and sci-fi drama Intelligent Life, Deadline reports that DuVernay will direct a movie about the watershed fashion battle of 1973, too. The movie, based on the 2015 book by Robin Givhan, The Battle of Versailles: The Night American Fashion Stumbled into the Spotlight and Made History, will document a high-stakes showdown that pitted French and American designers against each other and introduced ten black models (including Pat Cleveland and Bethann Hardison) to global audiences in unprecedented numbers.
DuVernay co-wrote it, because, you know what, guys, she can.
It's going to be a good one.
