Avatar: The Last Airbender First Trailer Soars Into View

This isn’t the first time Nickelodeon's much-loved animation Avatar: The Last Airbender has been given the live-action treatment, but it has the potential to be the best.

That’s what’s promised in Netflix’s debut trailer, which shows off stunning visuals, emotional story beats, and actors who nail their animated counterparts.

Avatar: The Last Airbender centres on Aang, a young Air Nomad who joins pals Sokka and Katara on a quest to defend the world from the Fire Nation and take his place as the next Avatar.

According to the synopsis: “The four nations of the world once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world.”

You won’t need to have seen the original to watch this. It’s a reimagining rather than a sequel, establishing the Avatar universe from the beginning, much like this year's phenomenally successful anime adaptation One Piece. Speaking of which, remember when the One Piece season 2 plans were revealed by the producer?
