Baby wrapped in dad's dreadlocks is the cutest photo on Instagram

Just when you thought baby wraps couldn’t get any better, one dad found a unique way to cradle his baby girl … in his hair.

After seeing a photo of another father lying down with his baby boy wrapped in his heart-shaped dreadlocks, Bakari was inspired to re-create that moment with his baby girl. With the help of his daughter Leilani’s mother, the couple decided to switch things up and wrap their baby in her father’s dreadlocks a bit differently. The final results were absolutely adorable, and Bakari shared his reinterpretation on Instagram along with the caption “Saturday shenanigans.”

Thousands of people were quick to take notice and left admirable comments, such as: “This is the best post. Ever. It’s melting my heart” and “This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Bakari quickly came to realize that his daddy-daughter moment had put a smile on so many faces, but he didn’t know it would attract so many newfound fans of their bond. “It was just a picture of me, my daughter, and our day,” he tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “It was just a regular cute photo of me and my baby girl, and I did not expect so much attention behind it. It was truly a shock.”

Shortly after sharing the photo of Leilani wrapped in his dreadlocks, Bakari thought, “I wonder if my hair is long enough to put her on my shoulders and securely wrap her there?” The baby girl was placed onto Bakari’s shoulders, and he held her in place while her mom wrapped her up. “She was wrapped securely and had fallen asleep in the process,” Bakari explains. From there, another precious photo was born and shared on Instagram. The internet nearly lost it once again.

Leilani was just born on March 21 and happens to be Bakari’s first child. “When she came into this world, there was an indescribable feeling of overwhelming joy,” he says. “We’ve had a close bond since she was in the womb. I used to talk to her and rub her mother’s stomach to comfort her.”

Bakari’s been growing his hair for eight years, and it falls near his lower back, so there may be more baby-wrapped-in-dreadlocks moments to watch for. There’s no doubt the duo’s growing fan base would appreciate it.

Looks like little Leilani is on her way to becoming the next big Instagram star, and we’re totally here for it.
