Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay's fiancé won't let her wear pants at their wedding
According to (frankly sexist) tradition, when it comes to heterosexual weddings, it’s the bride’s day. Even today, plenty of wedding vendors and guests will assume that the bride makes all the important decisions (and, yes, I’m speaking from experience). But former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay and her fiancé, Bryan Abasolo, are entering into an equal partnership — and that means they’re making joint decisions about their upcoming nuptials.
In an interview with E! News published Friday, Lindsay shared that she wanted to wear pants at her wedding, but she and Abasolo reached a “compromise” about her outfit. “Bryan, he says he doesn’t care, but I really think he does; he wants to see me in a dress, and so we are going to compromise,” Lindsay told E! News.
Lindsay also revealed which celebrity she wants to take wedding-day style inspiration from: The Big Bang Theory actor Kaley Cuoco. “I thought that the dress was beautiful. It had this sheer, it had the beading, it had a cape. I thought it was gorgeous,” Lindsay told E! News about Cuoco’s Reem Acra gown.
It’s worth noting that Cuoco changed into a Tadashi Shoji jumpsuit for her wedding reception. Lindsay was talking about Cuoco’s dress for the wedding ceremony, but her statements could also be a hint that she too might opt to wear a jumpsuit for her reception.
Ok let’s party!!! #kcsquared 💋 💕

If Lindsay does decide to wear a jumpsuit at her wedding reception, she’d be in good company. Kristen Bell wore black pants at her low-key courthouse wedding to Dax Shepard. And Solange Knowles wore a Stephane Rolland jumpsuit at her wedding in 2014.
The way Lindsay described it, it doesn’t sound like Abasolo was dictating what she needs to wear at their wedding. Instead, it seems both of them are invested in their special day, and she wants to do something that will satisfy her and her fiancé. There are plenty of stereotypes about women having their dream wedding day planned out. But the truth is, men have ideas about what they want from their wedding too.
There’s no right way to get married, and it sounds like the Bachelorette couple is doing what will make them excited about the big day. Marriage and partnerships are all about compromise, and it seems Lindsay and Abasolo know how to do that in ways that will keep both of them happy.
