Barbie Ferreira Opened Up About that Micropenis Scene on 'Euphoria' Last Night
One of Euphoria's stars has opened up about filming a scene involving her character reacting to a micropenis over Skype. Barbie Ferreira plays Kat Hernandez on the controversial HBO teen drama, which also stars Spider-Man: Far From Home's Zendaya and aired its third episode in the US on Sunday night (June 30).
The episode in question saw Kat create erotic One Direction fan-fiction and sexually interact with a man and his micropenis via Skype. As used previously on the show, prosthetics and an intimacy co-ordinator were involved in filming the scene.
Speaking recently, Barbie revealed why she insisted on seeing the micropenis in real time while filming in order to make her character's reaction more "genuine."
"I was very vocal about like 'I would like to see it," Barbie told Entertainment Weekly.
"'I want to see it because I want to have a genuine reaction', and that kind of interaction can only really be done if I can see it and have the surprise with everyone else."
She added: "Every sex scene in Euphoria speaks volumes in either the character’s story, or the awkwardness, or creates a feeling that if we didn’t have it, it wouldn’t feel the same way. "It was never like 'Do this. Come over here and look at this micro dick.' They explained to me what I was doing, they asked me if I was comfortable with it.
"I’m not skeeved out by a micropenis prosthetic, like my reaction in that scene is what really happened. I was laughing."
The controversial scene follows an opening episode which featured a fully erect penis and statutory rape, and a second episode which featured 30 different penises.
Hmm. We wonder what phallic-ful surprises the remaining five episodes have in store...
