Batman: Arkham Trilogy Gets Last-Minute Delay On Switch

Earlier in the year came a shocking – if you didn’t see all the leaks beforehand – announcement that the Batman: Arkham Trilogy would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. At the time it was announced to be coming on October 13, which at the time of writing is next week, but unfortunately DC superfans will have to wait a while longer.

WB Games has announced a last-minute delay to the Switch version of Batman: Arkham Trilogy. A post on the official Batman Arkham Twitter account revealed that the game would be pushed back two months, now releasing on December 1, 2023.

“Batman: Arkham Trilogy for Nintendo Switch will now launch on December 1, 2023,” the post reads, “More time is needed to bring players the best possible experience on Nintendo Switch. We apologize to fans who are excited to play this version of the trilogy. Thank you for your patience.”

The Batman: Arkham Trilogy on Switch includes Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and surprisingly Arkham Knight, a game that struggled a bit on PS4 and Xbox One when it was first released. It also includes all the DLC for those games, but unfortunately won’t include Arkham Origins, a prequel game developed by WB Games Montreal rather than Rocksteady Games like other Arkham games.

No exact reason was given for the last-minute delay, but we’d imagine it likely has to do with optimization and polishing. We probably don’t have to worry too much about Asylum and City, since those games ran just fine on even the Xbox 360, but there is a bit of a question mark over Knight, which was previously only on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The delay comes on the same day as the release of Gotham Knights on Xbox Game Pass, although it’s worth noting the two games are largely unrelated, despite similarities at first glance. A delay isn’t too big of a deal though — there are already way too many games coming out in October, so having to wait to replay the Arkham Trilogy shouldn’t be too difficult.
