Beauty sleep is real, and you shouldn't be disturbed until you get the perfect amount
Good news, sleepyheads! According to a recent study, anything or anyone who tries to wake you up is attempting to prevent you from being beautiful. Your colleagues at work? They don’t want to see how alluring you are. Your dog that needs walking? It’s selfish and wants to be the prettiest one in the family. The alarm clock on your phone? Obviously, it’s been created by robot overlords who want to prevent human copulation so they can finally take over the world.
According to a study conducted by the bed brand Sealy, there is an optimum amount of time we should be sleeping to be our most attractive.
The official amount of sleep beautiful people supposedly get is 9 hours and 10 minutes — but those hours of sleep have to be of “good quality.”
The study goes on to suggest that the best time to try to go to sleep is at 9:45 p.m., and you should wake up at 6:55 p.m. (Sorry, fellow night owls. Apparently we’re doomed to have bags under our eyes, but if it’s any consolation, we’re usually awake at night, when it’s more difficult to see how hideous we look in the dark.)
Neil Robinson, an expert on sleep at Sealy, told Her.ie, “Many of us strive to look and feel good, and spend a large amount of money trying to do so. However, we seem to forget that achieving a better night’s sleep can positively impact our overall appearance.
“With this in mind, it’s important to consider the quality of sleep you are getting and doing everything possible to create an environment which makes quality sleep more likely.”
According to Robinson, the key to quality sleep is a comfortable bed, a calm and quiet environment, and a regular pre-sleep routine.
