Beyoncé’s New Visual Album Is Dropping Tonight—Here’s How to Watch!
Fridays are never not the best day of the week, but July 31 is extra special thanks to Beyoncé, blessed be her name, debuting her new visual album Black Is King. The album is based on music from The Lion King: The Gift, and not only is Beyoncé starring in it, but she also wrote, directed, and executive-produced the project because there’s literally nothing she can’t do.
Disney and Parkwood Entertainment describe Black Is King as “a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience” and “an affirmation of a grand purpose, with lush visuals that celebrate Black resilience and culture.” Here’s a sneak peek, and honestly, it looks incredible:
When it comes to the plot, Black Is King tells the story of “a young king’s transcendent journey through betrayal, love, and self-identity. His ancestors help guide him toward his destiny, and with his father’s teachings and guidance from his childhood love, he earns the virtues needed to reclaim his home and throne.”
And yes, you can expect some pretty high-profile guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Pharrell, Jay-Z, and, most importantly, Blue Ivy Carter. Excited? Same, so HERE’S HOW TO WATCH!
WHEN
That’d be 12 a.m. (aka midnight) PT/3 a.m. ET (FYI, the run time is 85 minutes).
WHERE
Here’s the thing: Black Is King is airing exclusively on Disney+, so if you don’t have an account, you need to sign up for one to watch it. Which is clearly worth it, so…
It’s $6.99 per month, which hardly seems like a lot to pay for Beyoncé’s literal art, plus you get access to a million other movies and TV shows—including from Marvel and Pixar. But if you’re only here for Queen Bey like moi, you can go ahead and cancel after you’ve streamed Black Is King several dozen times over the weekend.
P.S. Before you pull out your credit card, make sure you don’t already have access to Disney+ through Verizon Fios!
