In 2008, Ali Vincent became the first female winner of The Biggest Loser. She started the show at 234 pounds and finished at 125. Since then, Vincent has gained a solid Facebook following, which she always felt great about until she did her first Facebook Live video in February … and all the comments were about how she’d gained a lot of her weight back.
In an April 23 interview with Oprah, Vincent explained how the commenters not only humiliated her (“I was ashamed … I was embarrassed. It was probably my lowest point.”), but they also pushed her to take control of her life again. “I’ve decided to feel proud of myself again! To hell with shame!” she wrote in an accompanying Facebook post: “I’ve been so afraid and worried of public shame and ridicule that I’ve created more pain for myself than anyone else can but not anymore.”
Additionally, she joined Weight Watchers, which Oprah partially owns, and has been chronicling her progress. Since she began last week, she told Oprah, she’s been overwhelmed with support from more positive commenters. “I read every single comment” on her Weight Watchers post and was ready to ban anyone who spoke negatively of her decision, Vincent said, “but there was not one single one.”
To this day, her Facebook remains overwhelmingly positive, both from Vincent and the people who follow her. ]]>??
